This was read at a Rally in Sarasota last Saturday:

The Soldier

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Good evening all.

It has not been difficult to 'pray without ceasing' in the last couple of days. May God give rest to our weary troops, bravery when called to fight, faith when times are trying and peace in the midst of choas and confusion. In the name of Jesus, Amen....

Does anyone know what the initials MAL stand for in a Marine postal address?

Very good! Have you seen this one that's been making the email rounds? I apologize if it's been posted all over FR.

The Shelby County (Alabama) Legislative Delegation hosted a "Stand Up for America Rally." One of the speakers at the rally was Alabama State Auditor, Beth Chapman.

Attached is a copy of Mrs. Chapman's speech, which resulted in 5 standing ovations, tremendous applause & an encore. It's a short read & well worth it.

I'm here tonight because men and women of the United States military have given their lives for my freedom.

I am NOT here tonight because Sheryl Crowe, Rosie O' Donnell, Jane Fonda, Martin Sheen, the Dixie Chicks, Barbara Streisand, the Beastie Boys, George Clooney or Phil Donahue, sacrificed their lives for me.

If my memory serves me correctly, it was not movie stars or musicians, but the United States Military who fought on the shores of Iwo Jima, the jungle of Vietnam, and the beaches of Normandy.

Tonight, I say we should support the President of the United States and the US military and tell the liberal, tree-hugging, hippy, Birkenstock wearing, tie-dyed liberals to go make their movies and music and whine somewhere else.

After all, if they lived in Iraq, they wouldn't be allowed the freedom of speech they' re being given here today - - ironically, they would be put to death at the hands of Saddam Hussein or Osama Bin Laden.

I want to know how the very people who are against war because of the loss of life, can possibly be the same people who are for abortion?

They are the same people who are for animal rights but against the rights of the unborn.

The movie stars say they want to go to Iraq and serve as human shields for the Iraqis, I say let them buy a one-way ticket and go. No one likes war, I hate war. But the one thing I hate more is the fact that this country has been forced into war - innocent people have lost their lives - -and there but for the grace of God, it could have been my brother, my husband, or even worse my own son.

On December 7, 1941, there are no records of movie stars treading the blazing waters of Pearl Harbor.

On September 11, 2001; there are no photos of movie stars standing as human shields against the debris and falling bodies ascending from the World Trade Center. There were only policemen and firemen - - underpaid civil servants who gave their all with nothing expected in return.

When the USS Cole was bombed, there were no movie stars guarding the ship where were the human shields then?

If America's movie stars want to be human shields, let them shield the gang-ridden streets of Los Angeles, or New York City, let them shield the lives of the children of North Birmingham whose mothers lay them down to sleep on the floor each night to shelter them from stray bullets.

If they want to be human shields, I say let them shield the men and women of honesty and integrity who epitomize courage and embody the spirit of freedom by wearing the proud uniforms of the United States military.

THOSE are the people who have earned and deserve shielding.

Throughout the course of history, this country has remained free, not because of movie stars and liberal activists but because of brave men and women who hated war too - - but lay down their lives so that we all may live in freedom.

After all - What greater love hath no man, that he lay down his life for his friend," but in this case a country.

We should give our military honor and acknowledgment and not let their lives be in vain. If you want to see true human shields, walk through Arlington Cemetery. There lies human shields, heroes, and the BRAVE Americans who didn' t get on television and talk about being a human shields, they were human shields.

I thank God tonight for freedom - - those who bought and paid for it with their lives in the past - - those who will protect it in the present and defend it in the future.

America has remained silent too long. God-fearing people have remained silent too long.

We must lift our voices united in a humble prayer to God for guidance and the strength and courage to sustain us throughout whatever the future may hold.

After the tragic events of Sept. 11th, my then eleven -year-old son said terrorism is a war against us and them and if you're not one of us, then you're one of them.

So in closing tonight, let us be of one accord, let us stand proud, and let us be the human shields of prayer, encouragement and support for the President, our troops and their families and our country.

May God bless America, the land of the free, the home of the brave and the greatest country on the face of this earth!

That was read at our rally too!

The President looks gorgeous in those photos. WOW!

What a weekend. I'm feeling better as many of the military people and pundits are trying to tell everyone to calm down. As Fred Barnes said, "it's the press that's in full panic mode. They're a bunch of wussies!"

Amen to that. I sure wish we could take out that TV station though. The propaganda isn't help us any.

Forgive the length of my rant, but I have to get some things off my chest.

What a weekend. To say that I was feeling a little low by yesterday is an understatement. But I have since come around and am very optimistic about the outcome of this war. First, I think we need to intensify our prayers and support for the President. As Commander in Chief, he has got to be sick about the POW's. I know it is war, and I know that these things are inevitable, but President Bush is such a compassionate person and I am sure this is eating him up. However, it is his resolve and determination to not let their lives be lost in vain that has rejuvenated me.

Regarding the POWs. As sad as it is to say, I can say that this issue may have a positive outcome in that it will do the Iraqis more harm in PR than anything else will. I was 10 years old when those bastard Iranians took our brave Americans as hostages. It affected me greatly for some time afterward. And what I saw yesterday stirred in me anger and resentment that I haven't felt since then. I just think of the picture that has been posted 1000 times of one of our soldiers giving a captured Iraqi POW a drink out of his OWN canteen and compare it with the treatment of our men. THIS ALONE VINDICATES US, as if we needed vindication.

Where the hell are the French and the Russians now that our POWs have been tortured and killed? Now that the Iraqis have used Scud missiles that they supposedly didn't have? Now that we have captured a chemical weapons plant that wasn't there? I demand to know what their response is. They were too cowardly to go in and help us get the job done, and now that our men and women are dying and being tortured, where the hell are they? They are too busy covering their a$$e$, that's where. As this war progresses, more and more comes out about our "allies" complicitness with our enemy. Their names are all over illegal weapons and other devices sold to the Iraqis over the past 12 years. Chirac for one is scared to death because HE personally has overseen this breach of morality and lapse in friendship. Putin can at least claim he inherited the mess, but we should hold him equally responsible. The French and the Russians are LIARS!

Some in the media are beginning to wring their hands. I just want to shout at the TV- IT's ONLY BEEN 5 DAYS!! I would love to see some of these nitwits during WWII. We had to wait YEARS for the tide to turn in that war. And now they are fretting because "not as many Iraqis are surrendering as we had hoped." We have had several THOUSAND Iraqi soldiers already decide to throw in the towel after just a few days, and this is a bad thing to some in the media? I think they thought that there would be one massive line of surrender from one end of Iraq to another. I guess that's how THEY in the media would have done it.

Personally, I wouldn't last a day in the military. I would have hunted down the "Muslim-American" son of a bitch who killed his own and shot him between the eyes. I would not accept any future Iraqi surrenderees, after the chicken-sh!t they have pulled, ambushing our troops after faking surrender. I would not be able to hold back. And it is all the more reason I, as a 34 year old man, can say I admire- truly admire- so many of these 18-19 year olds who voluntarily devote their lives to the discipline of the military. I thank them, and I appreciate them, and I pray for the safety, more and more and more. I am afraid that we will lose more soldiers in this war, but do not ever forget that there will be Iraqi children- thousands of them- who will one day live in a free land like us, and they will be able to say it is because of the sacrifice of AMERICAN and BRITISH soldiers. And President Bush will be hailed as a hero. And we will still have idiots marching in the streets, protesting wars because the same brave 18-19 year olds gave them the right to do so.

God bless our troops, and God Bless America and Great Britain!
