Mechanics still have to eat, and they have a lot of equipment that needs to be tracked. All units have a number of non-combatants, because without them they can't fight.

Thank Bill Clinton, pal.

"Bush didn't put this girl there...she did."
almost sounds like people are hateful towards this girl....like all she was doing was protecting yours and my freedoms in this country....
God bless this young person, whatever has happened to her, and I thank her and her family for their sacrifices in defending this ungrateful nation....
see....that wasn't so hard......

>>>What the heck were they doing out in a convoy of mechanics in a war zone? According to military reports, they simply took a wrong turn and were faced with armed Iraqi military. War isn't for the faint of heart.
In any war, expect the unexpected.

I have a problem with it, but they want equality, equal pay for equal work you know.....defies nature's laws but that's okay I guess...would I rather have a man or woman watching my back, you figure it out...how many people know standards have been reduced so women can pass?
I guess times have changed from Rosie the riveter...IMO women can serve honorably & be of great value in other positions more remote from the frontlines..
To: Chancellor Palpatine
I would prefer if women troops were kept in back at bases to serve in less dangerous roles.

Because Bill Clinton's administration listened to a bunch of radical feminists that insisted that women should be allowed in the support lines. We've been brought to this point by the feminists who've been pushing equal rights for decades.

Ever read about Deborah in the Bible, she did what no man would do, so don't underestimate women. They can and will be given the same protection as our men.
Had a sister sent over in first Gulf War, took some time for her to get use to not carrying her weapon. Nothing like a female trained to use deadly force.

Because more young men won't sack up and do it. (and the Clinton reasons mentioned previously)

Q: Why are the home pages ugly in this 'improved' version? A: Because I'm working on the system. It will look better when I am finished. |

It is their right to join the military (at least long enough to be mustered out if they can't make it), has been for a long time.
The GI Bill is a good thing, nothing wrong with rewarding those who've served.
Since we don't know when she enlisted your last statement might or might not be true (if she enlisted post 9-11 you're wrong).

Somebody has to cook the beans and someone has to pass out the bullets.
You obviously have no concept how the miltary works.

"So none of you guys have a problem with sending teenage girls into combat zones?"
Not if they're soldiers. No more than sending teenage boys into combat zones. They joined up voluntarily to be soldiers.

Good point. :o)

I thought they were all using MREs, though. That's why the cook thing puzzled me.
The supply clerk makes a little more sense, but I guess I thought that the stuff would be loaded and checked in the rear then just delivered out at the front by the driver and whoever was riding shotgun. Sort of like UPS, but bigger...

30 years of feminism put them there. They signed on willingly. They don't get a pass from the perils of combat based on what's between their legs. Feminists and our society that has allowed women to serve in the armed forces can't have it both ways. This isn't a fashion show in camouflage or some made for TV reality show. We expect soldiers to train hard, fight hard and win wars, even at the cost of their lives if need be. If our society can't bear to watch what happens to females in combat, then we should force change back to the way things were.

She signed up, knowing the risks. She signed up because the Army gave her education opportunities that she couldn't get anywhere else.
I speak as a guy whose sister joined the Air Force ROTC. I would have preferred that I be the one of the family that joined the military, not her, but I cannot because of asthma.
If she gets sent over to a war (not likely now, since she's a junior in a 5-year program), she's aware of the risks -- and willing to take them for her country.
This girl is an American patriot. Her sacrifice should be lauded, not second-guessed by an arm-chair general sitting comfortably behind a keyboard.
