I think the vast majority of the Canadien population is supportive of us but now those folks in Quebec ? That's an entirely different matter . I love the fall back position this guy takes claiming to have his honour in question and having family in the States .

"Mr. LaPierre told the Senate yesterday that he had been misquoted in the transcript and that he had in fact shouted: "So did the Americans." But his attempt to correct the Debates, which requires unanimous consent, was blocked by opposition members who said they wanted to listen to a tape of the sitting first.

A shaken Mr. LaPierre said he would offer his resignation to Prime Minister Jean Chretien since "his honour" was being challenged by the opposition members

1. Why would listening to the tapes, to make the desired corrrection --- push Mr. LaPierre to offer his resignation.

2. To claim that playing the tape --- "challenged his honor", is a specious argument.. We have all learned that the French and French Canadians have no honor..

They have shown themselves to be whores to the terrorists, and their word is worth less than their feces smeared on toilet paper...

Yes, I meant to insult the French and French Canadians..

I'm not Canadian, I am a red-blooded American who just wants a secure northern border, and the way I would like to see it done is to see a regime change in Canada, ie, the Canadian conservatives replacing the Chretien socialist/leftist intellectuals. I intend to do what I can for them.

Canada needs rescued from socialism. Might as well be us to do the job.

I myself heard the tape and from the tape it is VERY CLEAR that he did NOT say 'Screw the Americans' but 'So did the Americans'. 'So did the Americans' also fits well with the context of the discussion.

What you are doing is playing into the hands of political trick by a person who is trying to become the leader of the conservative-in-name-only party. If you want to after LaPierre for his saying the USA is quilty of providing arms to Saddam (what he really said) then have at it, but don't cling to misquote just because it feeds your prejudices and anger.

There should be no objection by a "man of honor" to have the tape replayed for EVERYONE to hear....

Many Americans, myself included --- have heard and seen MORE THAT ENOUGH to have formed an opinion on the current Canadian government and the majority of Canadians that elected them....

That is NOT our problem....That is your and their problem...

Point is, we have been "listening up" and observing.....

I haven't heard the tape. I HAVE read the transcript though, and I agree with you completely that 'So did the Americans' fits with the context. 'Screw the Americans' would not fit the context at that point in the debate.

I absolutely agree with your comments. If this man was misquoted, and is being harangued because of that, than the conservatives will look very foolish indeed.

The liberals (from Canada and the USA) give us more than enough of their diatribes to debate. We don't need to make them up in order to prove our points.
