No Americans are hated because they can be insufferably obnoxious and shallow, like your post. That kind of facist hyperbole does no one any good. How would you like to have to have defended the US's actions during Bill Clinton's reign? Could you have defended everything that was done (or not done) by the US then? There are a lot of Canadians in official positions that are coming forth with support for the US, and there are Canadians serving in the Gulf right now. Give the Canadians a break. Yes, they have let us down right now, but remember they have a much smaller population than the US, and they happen to be in the grip of an insufferable government. That won't last. Don't burn your bridges.

If someone hates us because they envy us and can't be like us, not because they disagree with us, does the same logic apply to us?

I'm sorry. I intended for my comment to be more abstract. I wasn't accusing you of knowing something about me.

In this world, all things are not equal. Something can apply to the United States that can not be applied to other countries. The fact is, there is a double standard. Because of our proof of doing the moral thing more times than any other nation, we can take actions that are correct that would be incorrect for another country to take.

What I'm saying is that we have a moral obligation to further democracy, capitalism and freedom in this world.

As it has been pointed out, even some of our coalition partners have a large proportion of their populations that support socialism. They restrict the freedoms of their people just like the U.S. does to some extent, but to a greater extent. Their day will come as well.

The doctrine of foreign policy for the U.S. should be simple.

Don't violate the God given rights of your people
Don't violate the God given rights of people in other nations.
You must have a free market economy.

See the thing is, intelligent people who really lived in a Free Market economy wouldn't want a socialistic nation. <--Man I know I'll get slammed on this comment...

This reaction from Toronto is amazing. The darned flu comes from ASIA, a huge petri dish of unimaginable numbers of humanity, combined with incredibele amounts of filth and PIGS, which are the vessels which catch diseases from the local humans, and in whos bodies the diseases mutate into more and more virulent forms every year.

As a poster pointed out not long ago, where do you all think the viral plague or 1918 came from? It killed and incapacitated far more people than this manufactured Leigionaires-type 'crisis' has.

The germs are already OUT there, in play. We in the West deal with these Asian virii EVERY YEAR!! What do you all think your FLU SHOTS every year are developed from??? People need to get a grip.

hehehe:)

That's cool.

"See the thing is, intelligent people who really lived in a Free Market economy wouldn't want a socialistic nation. <--Man I know I'll get slammed on this comment..."

That's the last thing I'd slam someone on. People in socialist states tend to get either lazy or REALLY fed up with it. People in allegedly capitalist states who get crapped on tend to want socialism.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you. I may not have been specific enough in my argument, as I focused on countries that have a disagreement with us. I was trying to differentiate between disagreement and action that tries to counteract our interests.

We have the right to support capitalism, God given human rights, and the interests of the United States.

The actions of Bill Clinton can be defended by the fact that the free nation of the United States elected a leader and action was taken.

This doesn't mean that I agreed with some of the things (or anything that BillyBoy did) but the fact is that it was the United States taking the action.

There is nothing wrong with having a disagreement with the United States, but if you begin to let it take action that hurts the interests of the United States, then you should consider what the United States has done for you. We keep the economies of countless nations afloat. We feed more of the hungry and heal more of the sick than anyone else. We protect (for instance S. Korea) from oppression by foreign forces. These are the things that give us the right to expect your help when it is needed.

If you take ACTION that harms our interests, then you should be prepared to suffer the consequences of not having our support. Having a disagreement is what freedom is all about.

Thank God not all Americans are as useless as you and Clinton. Chretien never got as high a percentage as Clinton. You don't understand our electoral system. A minority of idiots can in fact control this country. The Democrats have run yours for many years. Thsy are jerks and our left wingers are jerks. We have fewer jerks as a percentage than the US does. If we were a two party system, they would never have got in.

Absolutely right, TexasGunLover, because socialism is about force: being forced to contribute to the good of the whole, being forced not to say what you believe, being forced to interact with people you consider immoral, and being forced to lower the bar in the name of equality.

"Canada is not a coward nation."

Right you are. I for one recall the heroism in many crises where Canadians saved the Americans' bacon. Pardon us, America ia a little overwroght these days due the betrayals by the double dealing French, German and Russian governments.

That said, I will have a hard time ever forgetting the hostility toward us from the present administration of your government and disappointed that your citizens allow it. But, I like Canada anyway. I just won't spend my planned vacation there this year...or until the attitude changes.

"We have fewer jerks as a percentage than the US does."

Yes, but we have fewer French sympathizers than Canafrance does. At least our nation doesn't have the current tag of "Colony of France". I would suggest worrying about our boycotting your nation into a depression instead of concerning yourself about the mistakes 49.7% of our idiots made in electing Clinton.

Hey, get off of it. This is a serious problem, and we should be working together not blaming each other for something neither one of us have any control over.

I am a True American and live in Las Vegas, and it seems to me we should be supporthing each other. Just because they have a wacky leader, does not mean he speaks for all of the Canadians, we have a lot of friends in Alberta, and they think less of their leader than we do. So cool it. You are just wasting band space.

So, if your country has a higher percentage of jerks, why are YOU attacking us. We (the non-jerks who love and support the right in the US) don't balme all Americans for Clinton, Daschle, etc. We actually understand your problem. We've been there.

Because Prime Minister Yellow Stain worked with the French to actively oppose our right to attack Iraq and defend against future terrorist attacks. Because your government and some of the people in it have assailed our leader as a "moron" and "stupid". Fine. WE can call names too. But when you actively interefere and attempt to change our policy goals AND when your leadership continues to assail our President in a time of war you should be prepared for the consequences. Personally speaking, I could not care if that border is open right now or not. I would prefer the Canucks down here in Florida, pack up, and go home to their socialist utopia. And since this is AN AMERICAN BOARD USING AMERICAN BANDWIDTH, if you don't like what's being said, you can go to DU and cry with the U.N. and frog lovers. We have a war to fight. Your nation's leadership decided to attempt to interfere. Now deal with the political and economic consequences. Until you change your government, as far as I'm concerned, your nation is a colony of France.

What will be interesting to see is if there will be any SARS cases in Chicago within the next couple of weeks. The American College of Cardiology is holding its annual meeting there, which begins tomorrow and ends on Wednesday. Thousands of cardiologists from around the world will attend the meeting, which has been, historically, the largest cardiology meeting held every year. And, I'll be there all four days... cough... cough...

As a poster pointed out not long ago, where do you all think the viral plague or 1918 came from?

You are refering to the Spanish Influenza Epidemic that infected a Billion people and killed 40 million.

The given name "Spanish" is a twist of history that occurred because Spain, not being involved in the war, had a free Press which could report on the ravages of the pandemic in their country. In turn, when Russia reported on the situation in Moscow, Pravda printed "Ispanka (The Spanish Lady) is in town" and the name has stuck. In fact, the first case can be traced to Camp Funston, Kansas, USA on 8 March 1918. This heralded the start of the pandemic which spread around the world in three waves. The first wave, in March to July of 1918,

You as an individual explain the Clinton phenomenon. No reason, no logic, just emotion. But I still don't hink all Americans are like you. I've lived there for a lot of years.
