I saw Peter Arnett being interviewed by the Iraqi government-controlled TV station. I was appalled at his cooperation with the brutal Iraqi government and his on-air admission that he was purposely focusing upon the tragic yet unavoidable collateral damage in this war in order to effect public opinion back in the United States. Would that he would pay a little more attention to the captured coalition soldiers being tortured and executed by the Iraqis, the Iraqi civilians that are being murdered by their government for even waving at coalition troops, etc.
But, no, he's more interested in the accidental damage and deaths in order to advance his own anti-American agenda. This admitted behavior is not only treasonous (aiding and abetting the enemy) but it also demonstrates that Arnett has forgotten the basics of true journalism. He has sacrificed his own credibility and that of his employers and those who air his biased reports so that he can aid the enemy Iraqi government in their PR efforts. The sad thing is that much of the leftist media does the same, but Baghdad Pete is the one that admits it. There is plenty of scum just like him out there, though none so blatent.

So you're telling me that two thirds of the reporters at Centcom are giving interviews to Iraqi TV?

"Keep in mind that Arnett is subject to Iraqi handlers, who demand that he takes the Iraqi side when he reports from Baghdad."
If that is the case, why the hell is he there. His reports are, by definition, false. Why would a real journalist knowingly file lies, knowing they aid and comfort the enemy?
Your analysis fails, IMHO.

I just sent the following to Mister Griffin at MSNBC:
Two points stand out with Mister Arnett's interview on Iraqi Television: 1) he has given encouragement to the forces our Soldiers are in combat to defeat as quickly as possible, to save American and Iraqi lives ; 2) he has encouraged and infact invited the murderous Iraqi regime to slaughter Iraqi civilians for the propaganda value of disinformation by blaming it on American forces. #2 lie will play well in the Arab Streets, encouraging more suicide murderers to action. #1 is an act of sedition, at least, treason at worst. Is that what MSNBC wants to continue endorsing? Your network's dishonest spin of his treachery is making MSNBC complicit in #'s 1 & 2. XXXXXX XXXXXXXX, Johnson City, TN

My note to NBC said:
The statement put out by MCNBC, on Arnett's comments ,was unacceptable. I do not know if you plan a statement of your own.
If you do make a statement defending Arnett's words, I will by-pass MSNBC and NBC when I scan the news channels.
(or words to that effect)
To the other two, was an edited version.
Earlier, I wrote something to an Arnett address, and received a sugary answer, saying that they will select comments to pass on to Arnett. I doubt that my 'Baghdad Arnett' comment will be selected. HeeHee!

Emails sent to all three
Slightly different - and I didn't want to use the word 'traitor'. I used the terms "un-american and innacurate reporting".
But, without reprinting it here, I felt good writing them!!

Peter "Jane Fonda" Arnett is a dangerous traitor not an "expert analyst" (more like expert ANALyst).
Tom Liddy (G. Gordon's son) is one of our local talk radio guys. He is an ex-marine and the military analyst for KFYI in PHX.
Tom compared the last 11 days to a runner in a race getting to the starting line. We have spent this time positioning ourselves and getting ready for what is to come. The media don't have a clue so they think it's going badly. The difference is Arnett wants it to go badly.
I wish the media would just STHU and stop analyzing everything to death and asking every other "expert" what they think.
Will join you in e-mailing NBC.
