Tough shot for the Chicks.

After the beating they took for their anti-Bush stance - now to have Gore defending them? I don't think they can survive this one!

Bye Chicks! Nice knowin' ya'!

Our democracy has taken a hit," Gore said.

He still doesn't know this is NOT a democracy.

Gore doesn't understand what free speech is.

But fine, he can buy their records now.

"Our best protection is free and open debate."

Yes indeed. Free and open debate makes it possible to figure out who is with us and who is not. Yes, the Dixie Chicks & Gore are free to say nasty things about our leader...and we are free to criticize in return and free to not associate with their ilk.

"Our best protection is free and open debate."

That's right, Al! And I choose to use as part of the debate my free and open decision to boycott these losers. But hypocrites like you will never understand this.

Yeah, you're absoulutely right. Did Gore say anything about "democracy taking a hit" when Rush and Dr. Laura were threatened with boycotts by the Left? Actually, boycotts are democracy in action, since they demonstrate the "will of the people."

And everytime a Democrat or a leftist takes up with the chx, instead of helping them, it probably hurts them where it counts anyway, with country fans.

The Tree Stump speaks with authority when it comes to the public boycotting @ssholes who shoot their mouths off: Al's and Tipper's last book may have sold 87 copies nationwide.

"Our democracy has taken a hit"

Wrong Mr. Gore. It shows our Constitutional Republic is alive and well. Citizens will always be free to voice their opinions. What some citizens have forgotten is that there are other citizens who are going to disagree, and express their disagreement with their wallets.

The simple fact that Al Gore believes our country is a democracy shows he doesn't think clearly.

"our democracy has taken a hit"

What a dumbass. Our democracy has worked PERFECTLY. The Vichy Chicks can say what they want and the rest of us can say what (and buy the music) we want.

I disagree with you. Why should they do something they feel is wrong. I've never said they should CHANGE the way they feel. The only thing expected is that why they are performing during wartime they should keep their opinions to themselves. I hope I'm not alone in saying that I hope they do, but I don't expect, them to change their thinking. I'd be very disappointed in them if they would do an about face on this matter. I've actually thought how they've handled this has been fine. They're taking their hit, and not whining about it publicly. What's wrong with that?
