Open Houses to welcome Class of 2007 (can you spot the discrimination in their announcement?)******
Connecticut College ^ | 4/1/2003 | CC News

Thirty-four percent of students who applied for admission to CC’s Class of 2007 have been accepted, making the class the second most selective in CC history. The accepted students have a strong academic profile and represent one of the most diverse admitted classes, with 18 percent domestic students of color.

On Monday, April 14, many accepted students, families and friends will visit campus for the first of two Open Houses. Students of color are invited to a Spring Preview Weekend April 12-13, prior to Open House.

CC received 4,392 applications for admission to the Class of 2007, a 12 percent increase over last year. Martha Merrill ’84, dean of admission and financial aid, attributed the strong admission picture to the college’s “continued reputation as an engaging community for interdisciplinary learning where students can participate in shared governance and international opportunities.”

Merrill expects enrolling students will number a little over 500, with a total enrollment goal between 1,835 and 1,840. (Enrollment averaged 1,835 this year.) The admitted students come from 36 nations, 42 U.S. states and the District of Columbia; 58 percent hail from outside of New England. Fifty of the 1,498 accepted students are foreign citizens. Overseas, Turkey (10), Bulgaria (4) and Korea (3) produced the most offers of admission; the international contingent also includes scholarship recipients from Colombia, Ghana, Israel, Pakistan, Tanzania and Vietnam.

Of those ranked by their high schools, 60 percent are in the top 10 percent of their classes and 86 percent are in the top 20 percent. Median SAT-I scores for accepted students who submitted them were 690 verbal and 670 math.

The second Open House will take place on Monday, April 21. Admitted students have until May 1 to accept CC’s invitation to attend.

What, do you mean the preferences and perks for "people of color"?

I also notice that only 86% of the class were in the top 20% of their high school classes. I guess this isn't a terribly picky college.

Well. Maybe some of the remaining 14% are being brought in because they are "diverse" and not because of their strong grades.

That's disgusting. It's like a caste system for academia. How do the people who do this stuff sleep at night?

Well, must allow for...er,..."other factors".

No color? Even albinos have pink eyes. You must belong to the smallest minority of all-transparent people. If you are not invited, just contact the ACLU.......never mind, the ACLU will contact you.

A-P-R-I-L fool.

"I am so white I am clear."

Me too.I spent many summers in the sun trying to change that, but all it got me is frequent visits to my Dermatologist in my old age.

It is so embarrassing-when I go in for an X-ray, they just put a bright light behind me.

I wonder what the median SAT-I scores for accepted students of color were?

I'll take a wild guess and say one heck of a lot lower than 690 verbal and 670 math.

That's BS, I have a nice peach glow, that's color dammit.

So to attend this Spring Preview weekend will I have to tan for 5 days straight?

I wonder who pays for the "Spring Preview Weekend"?

If it's paid for out of general student fees, white students must pay for a party to which they're not invited.

Anyone know?

"I have a nice peach glow, that's color dammit."

It sure is, and don't let anyone tell you it ain't. Is that ripe peach, green peach or Delmonte canned peach glow?

For that Spring Preview Weekend, I would reccommend a bath tub full of experimental sun block of a rating that isn't available on the market, a Burka, a Stetson and an umbrella. Now if you are planning on going outside..........

If students don't fill out the racial boxes then the universities will get the message. If a student DOES check off a box on a college application that says it's VOLUNTARY, then what's the motivation? I want racial boxes gone altogether.

I highly reccommend the all time worse seller, and self destruction, how to manual-"Ebonics for idiots", by the author......., sorry the author must forever remain anonomus, he never learned to spell his own name.

Dropping your S's is a good start, but the art of almost always employing double negatives takes lots of practice.

This stuff is so easy. Just attend the "of color" event. Also, check off "African-American" and "Hispanic" on all forms. If anyone tries to tell you you're not entitled to any of these benefits and preferences, ask for the institution's written definitions of these preference categories, and for a reason, again in writing, for why they have singled you out for harassment.

This is the Achilles’ heel of this whole criminal "diversity" scheme - there are no definitions (except for Amer. Indian tribes). It's all based on self-identification. Anybody can claim to be anything. If someone challenges your claims based on your appearance - sue 'em.
