I can't blame the man for shooting the pond scum. I would have done the same thing given the chance.

sad that he spent more time in prison than the molestor
To: Pern
Shameful that a man who is trying to protect his daughter and other girls is imprisoned but a child molestor is merely put on probation. Well, the system is called the Criminal Justice system when it should be the Victim Justice system.

Molesting a child is attempted murder -- the attempted murder of a family. Some families are shattered by the trauma and die; others recover, but are crippled for life. Those who choose to molest deserve the death penalty for attempting to murder a family, and if the State will not provide justice, it is up to the parents to do so.
That being said: He did the right thing by pleading guilty. In his situation, the only thing a just man can do is kill the person who attempted to kill your family -- then boldly cop to the killing and let the State decide if what you did was murder -- or justice. Attempting to "get away with" the shooting or trying to hide the fact would have made this man no better than the scum he shot.
Anyone who lays a finger on my loved ones might as well dig their own grave before they start out, because if the law doesn't get them, I will. And afterwards I'll march into the courtroom and dare the jury to call me a murderer!
This man is a hero; I only wish he'd have been a better shot. Best wishes to him and his family.

"Had it not been for Mr. Johnson's intoxication, we believe Mr. Spears would have died," McCullough said. That is why it is important to do these things sober.
