What a woman to be proud of,,her parents must be popping with pride and relief. I hope she gets the time and privacy to get herself straight with all of this,,no doubt she has been thru hell and I hope she gets all the support and love she needs. She ought to be damned proud of herself.

She was in "stable" condition, with broken arms and a broken leg in addition to the gunshot and stab wounds, sources said.

Those don't sound like normal war wounds. I expect she was roughed up after she was captured. It's a miracle she is still alive.

Lynch, a 19-year-old supply clerk, continued firing at the Iraqis even after she sustained multiple gunshot wounds and watched several other soldiers in her unit die around her in fighting March 23, one official said.

Magnificent.

Tyrants, be warned -- beware the strength and courage of a free people!

Don't even get me started about them. They are lucky I don't own a rifle. Nuff said.

Thanks for injecting some logic into this silly conversation. Yes, a gun is an equalizer but as you say, we wnat a big strong person at our back when the going gets tough as in hand to hand.

Based on who's testimony? Spin by those who want to promote women in combat?? I can see it now Reese Witherspoon plays her in the movies - after that why not women in combat?

The ambushed soldiers were taken by suprise by the Iraqis and it was over quick so its hard to belive this story.

She couldn't possibly be the first woman to wear the Purple Heart, but Pfc. Lynch will have one.

She took their abuse, and is still standing proud.

Probably not literally, with two broken legs. :)
