This bill levels a new tax on all personal care products.
This means that all feminine hygeine products, diapers, waterproof bedding, and similar products will require:
1. Special separation from all waste by all homes, hospitals, and medical clinics 2. Special tax to send money to Waste Management and other trash haulers 3. Tax is 0.0025 on each "personal care product" (no factor included on how the businesses are supposed to collect this tax).

I have an idea. How about a tax on sex toys. This would get the liberals mad like crazy. .005 on each "adult device".

Unreal! Next, Californians will have to buy centrifuges to separate their urine into various components for proper disposal.

Perata has a real fixation with taxing damn near everything. Incredible! Is govt that essential to life that we and our pocketbooks must become nothing more then slaves to doofuses like this.

I have a suggestion!!!
Send all used feminine hygeine products, diapers, waterproof bedding, and similar products to your California state senator or assembly person. If Gov. 'Joe' Gray Davis signs such a tax into law - send all the used hygeine products to him instead!!!

Looks like it's coming up on a Senate hearing.
I guess we can watch and see what the California Senate democrats will stoop to.

I'd like to send the entire Senate Committee a bunch of diapers from our medical offices.
We could stack the used diapers up and send them by US postal service...but I'd think we could get prosecuted by Joe Davis for sending "biohazardous medical waste" through "unauthorized" packages.

I'd like to know how they plan to police this one?
To: Munson
well...i'm sure it would spawn a bunch of whining PSA's with Hollywood "actors" and "actresses".... LOL
I can hear it now:
"Hi... I'm Ben Affleck ... right now the mean spirited, right-wing extremists are attempting to limit my creative spirit."

...Californians will have to buy centrifuges to separate their urine into various components... Perhaps you missed the (quite serious) proposal at the recent environmental Summit...a call for the world's population to begin immediately an urgent program to recycle human perspiration and urine, in order to conserve our water resources and reduce Global Warming. Oh yes. Truth is often stranger than fiction.

LOL
I never thought of that... how do you police the diaper waste?
I'm sure the local sheriff loves that....
"Uhh... Boss... I found a doo doo in the diaper..."
"no...that's not doo doo, that's just chocolate..."
"oh yeah? you wanna test it?"
"Let's ask for "expert testimony"... call the district attorney and ask him what we should do"
(Sheriff calls DA)
"Hello Tony?"
"Yeah Mike?"
"I found some doo doo in a diaper...what am I supposed to do?"
"Book 'em Mike"
(Sheriff hangs up phone, calls only remaining doctor in town)
"sorry doc, I have to book you."
"But, Sheriff, It's just a diaper"
"I know Doc... I know... but I didn't write the law."
"For crying out loud, Sheriff, we're a doctor's office and the diaper ended up in the wrong pail"
"Yeah, but it's an illegal diaper and it ended up in the trash Doc."
"Sheriff, I paid that tax on the diaper."
"Doc... the law is the law... you can't have doo doo in a diaper in California... it's been outlawed by the State Senate."

What's even more insane is the docile populace that will go for this. Perhaps this is the step too far...when mommies have to get out a fourth trashcan for diapers. But if these democrats in California really want to incur the wrath of the voter, let them single out SUVs for special treatment!
To: The Westerner
Wrath of the voter? Not in the Republic of Del Norte, unfortunately.
Such a vast reservoir of democrat voters (gov't emps, unions, dropouts, aging dopers-in-diapers, students, gays, legal, illegal, felons, homeless, gang-bangers). Most of them do not own SUVs, live off wealthy benefactors or are seething with class envy. Now, if we tax Viagra, gerbils and condoms, well there might be another violent SF protest :)

But this idea would protest the absurdity of Democrats trying to tax evreything.

Let us not forget that California tried to levy a property tax on satellites in outer space if the company that owned them had a presence in California!
They truly do want a tax on everything.

Are they going to ask for volunteers to go through the garbage looking for this stuff? I'm sure they'll be lining up around the block for that job.

Just another good reason to literally "clean" out the 'Rat's nest in Sacremento in November 2004.
