Hollywood zeroes in on new hero

LOS ANGELES, April 4 An American hero? Count on Hollywood to enlist. Army supply clerk and Iraqi prisoner of war Jessica Lynch was barely in the air on her way to Ramstein Air Base after her rescue when Tinseltown producers started buzzing about her storys possibilities for a television movie.
producer SOME HAD EVEN called her family in Palestine, W.Va. I know people who have made the phone calls, Michael Jaffe, one of a group of Hollywood producers known for ripped-from-the-headlines entertainment, said yesterday, declining to name his colleagues. Not me. I think its way premature.
Lynchs family, he said, needs at least a few days to adjust. But in Hollywood a few days feels like a lifetime when a juicy, heroic story is being broadcast all over the cable news stations, the rights fairly begging to be bought.
Every new detail that emerged about Lynchs story seemed designed to tantalize Hollywood all the more. In the past couple of days the world heard that the 19-year-old private was shot multiple times and stabbed, that she watched her colleagues dying around her and still continued shooting at the enemy until her ammo ran out. That was before Special Operations commandos swooped in under cover of night to rescue her.
STUFF MOVIES ARE MADE OF
Its the kind of thing that, well, movies are made of. (Although yesterday Lynchs family said that doctors told them that in fact she had been neither shot nor stabbed, that didnt seem to dampen enthusiasm much.)
Said Jaffe: I didnt say Im not interested in the rights. Im just not chasing them. . . . Its very hard to look at that heartwarming story and not say, There might be a wonderful and rewarding movie in it.

I hope she and her family don't fall for Hollywierd. So many people do that and it cheapens their story.

Hollywood, get the hell away from her. They are damn lucky that she is not my daughter. It would be difficult to miss them as they approach my door.
SAorry, no movie tonight dear. I'm fed up with all of them.
To: areafiftyone
I doubt that I would go to see the movie (I've wasted enough money on those Hollywood morons in my life) but, I'll read the book.

Personally, I'd like to see the movie made. But I would want it to be a first rate production and not a Lifetime channel type of movie. I'd also want to pick the actors/actresses. The movie should show the Iraqi Regime as they really are (were by the time the movie is released.)
I hate to see Hollywood make a buck on something like this, but I think it's a story that America should know about. I also think the story should be told accurately.

Oh, yes! She could be computer-enhanced to be ALL of the evil enemy soldiers, and be blown away over and over! I'd buy the DVD.

When Hollyweird is done, the character will be a black, lesbian, vegan anti-war protestor from Soho who was captured by rogue elements of the US Army and the CIA.

Uhggg!Hollywood reminds me of circling vultures. They are only looking out for their next oppurtunity to grab more cash from the so called "flyovers" and "pee ons" who actually love our country.Idiots!
After all the bad mouthing of the president and our military...They turn around and want to make a movie????I thought they hated America? And I thought they only supported our military when they "shoot their officers"??
Excuse me while I puke up my lunch.

So many people do that and it cheapens their story. I thought Hollywood did a fairly good job with Sgt. York's story, but it's been awhile...

How long before the "I hate the Smart Family" crowd accuse the Lynch Family of trying to profit from their daughter's ordeal? Should we start a pool? I've got dibs on TODAY.

Shouldn't Hollywood wait until we are able to 100% confirm what happened to her? First we hear she'd been shot and stabbed, now we know she wasn't. I had also heard conflicting reports about whether she had her legs and an arm broken.
Given this, how do we know she sat there firing her weapon until all the bulletts were out? Did she hit anyone? Or was she firing aimlessly? Given the circumstances as an untrained individual, I know I'd probably do that myself.
Absolutely not trying to take anything away from Ms. Lynch - just the idiots in the media. I was telling my wife that some of these idiotic reporters, particularly the females, were being so damn giddy over the story that I was waiting for them to put on their pajamas, break out the popcorn, and begin giggling hysterically (like the classic SNL sketch).
