...he told Tim Russert that he joined the group so that he could be elected its president and make it support gun control.

On Oprah he claimed he joined so he could "dismantle" the NRA, in his FAQ he says:

After Columbine, I decided that I would run against Charlton Heston for the presidency of the NRA. If elected, my plan was to try to return the NRA to a gun safety organization, instead of its current agenda of gun fanaticism.
This makes three entirely different claims as to the purpose of his membership. He can't keep his lies straight.

I've read a few articles that take apart Moore's absurd Bowling for Columbine pretty effectively, but none have been as scholarly and comprehensive as this one. Kopel completely buries Moore.

It's just staggering that 5000 Academy voters in Hollywood voted an Oscar to this bozo, isn't it? Just mindblowing.

Kopel writes that the movie's theme is "encapsulated by D. H. Lawrence’s claim that “The essential American soul is hard, isolate, stoic, and a killer.” A hearty mix of these qualities certainly would explain our good fortune in such a relatively short time.
We are hard. We have, all of us, come from all over the world to make it here, with no one here to help us. Once we showed our mettle we were allowed the same pursuit of happiness that everyone else was engaged in but none of it was easy.
Distant and isolate we were. Most of us were separated from our old countries by vast oceans. Our neighbors, the people who worked by our side could care less what happened back in our old country, just as we could care less what happened in theirs.
Stoic? Yes, I suppose. There was so much of it! It was all so new! Who knew what to think? Many times you just struggle not to look too dumb.
Killers? Sure, why not? Far better than being prey. Far better than being killed.

Dennis Miller on Michael Moore, The Tonight Show, April 3, 2003:

-- On Michael Moore: "He's going to wake up every day for the rest of his life, and he's going to tell us how he hates everything about this country except his right to hate it. And then we say that we love it and he's going to tell us what naive sheep we are and that he's the true patriot because he hates it and he sees all the problems in it. Yeah, right, Mike. You know something, if my yawn got any bigger they'd have to assign it a hurricane name, okay? "Michael Moore simultaneously represents everything I detest in a human being and everything I feel obligated to defend in an American. Quite simply, it is that stupid moron's right to be that utterly, completely wrong."

When Bowling for Columbine gets an Oscar, but Waco: Rules of Engagement doesn't, you know something's wrong.

WooHoo! Did you locate a transcription for Miller's entire appearance? He hit a home run the other night with Leno laughing uncontrollably and taking notes!

After being urged to watch it over and over by numerous lefties, I broke down and sat through this mismash of half truths and distortions.

I have a coworker who thinks this is the greatest movie ever made. I tried to point out the falsehoods to him, but he doesn't care, says how can I discredit it with out seeing it?

I told him I don't have to see anything by Michael Moore, I know who he is and what he does, he is an anti-American socialist. He doesn't like that answer. What ticks me off is, this guy is very smart, but he's from India, clearly has a "world" view of the US. Doesn't like Bush, is anti-war, complains what we did to the Native Americans, etc., its best to just not argue politics with his type. I like him as a person, but there are certain things we should not discuss in the office I guess.

Miller said about Moore: "If my yawn was any bigger, they'd have to give it a hurricane name."

I am so sick of hearing about Michael Moore. Hasn't he received enough free publicity? Dennis Miller said it best when he called that stupid documentary "Trolling for Concubine".

Is a 9mm necessary to defend a home? Is any automatic weapon necessary to defend a home?

"It's not called the Bill of Needs, is it, bub?" ;D

Man, you're good, dangling all those "straight lines" out there like that; people are going to have tons of fun with this...
