McCartney should not apologize for making his dough. As far as I know, he made it legally. He gave it his best shot and came out on top (although I still think Lennon was the more creative of the two). People seem to still be willing to pay the price asked for his concerts and recordings. As long as he makes his cash honestly and pay the taxes he legally owes, its no big deal.

I will take issue if he starts preaching about the rest of us "sacrificing more", however.

Oh spare me please!! You sound like a Canadian union, socialist whiner who would rather that everybody be subjected to the same crappy system of long wait lists for medical care just so the playing field is level. If people have money to pay for better care, they should be free to spend it on better care - as long as this doesn't mean bumping those who cannot afford the normal level of care out of the line-up.

If Paul allowed this lady to access a private room that would otherwise not have been used at that time (and likely not by some out of work coal miner), then all power to him and her. Did it occur to you that by funding his friend's use of the private room, this freed up a gov't funded non-private room for some other person?

He should be embarrassed by the price of tickets to his concerts

Why?

You know that if he sold every ticket for a dollar (or a pound!), that the people who actually sit in the seats would probably wind up paying the same amount they do now.

Somebody is going to make all that money.

Why not the producer?

Just because those people you listed work at jobs that don't make them rich, doesn't automatically mean they think rich people are not "cool." I'm talking about attitudes, not a person's place in life, or chosen profession. Big difference.

But someone choosing one of these more seemingly noble causes shouldn't begrudge someone else working their tails off to get rich, right? I think that's what he was saying.

You're right, it's all the Beatles fault! I can't believe I never saw it until you brought it up.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

I wonder whether he supports privatization of health care? Or does he think it's perfectly fine that everyone except him and his friends has to put up with the NHS and its rationing?

I don't know that he's ever said, but when he uses the word "stuck" he can't be too pleased with the NHS. Of course it was all supposed to get better when 'New Labour' came to power...

See why we will never have a true conservative agenda in this nation. Even here the sheeple are complaining that his tickets cost too much. Well Duh! Don't go see him if he isn't worth it - plain & simple. I fortunatly have money enough to do almost anything I want but I have cut out certain events just because their pricing is out of line with my perceptions. Their value isn't within my monitary standard. This is just one thought process that separates conservative from the others.

The only people who think it's not "cool" to be rich are the ones who will never be rich due to their laziness.

I don't think that is what he was saying; read it again...what he said is that because he views money as the most important thing in the world, that everyone should view money as the most important thing in the world, and if they don't, there is something wrong with them (i.e. they are lazy).

I know his daughter Stella said that she's never used the NHS because she can afford to pay for her healthcare. Makes sense to me...why should the state pay for something if you can afford to pay for it yourself?

You're reversing cause and effect. What he's saying is that the only people who rail against the rich are those who aren't willing to put the effort into life to be rich. You never hear people who have taken a productive but less lucrative path complaining about the rich, only the lazy morons and chronically unemployable complain about the rich. The ones who want handouts are the ones insisting rich people are bad, everybody else is busy working.

He didn't say being rich was the most important thing to him, just that he's not embarrassed by it or feels the need to apologize for it (unlike some celebrities, like Bono). The way I read the "not cool" comment was that some people - like the far left anti-globalists who protest the WTO, IMF and G8 summits view money and wealth as a bad thing. All he's saying is he doesn't agree.

In this day 700,000,000 pounds is not that big.

I dunno - sounds like the MOAF to me (Mother Of All Fortunes)!

What about all the Hollywood lefties? They do their fair share of bashing "the rich", even though most of them are very wealthy themselves.
