[history]
Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle is taking a beating back home while Sen. John Kerry faces accusations of disloyalty from Republicans, underscoring the pitfalls of criticizing the president while troops are in the field.
Democrats, especially those in the early stages of presidential campaigns, have been performing a high-wire act between expressing support for the troops and satisfying their political base with attacks on President Bush.

I think Democrats probably can't stand that the war is going so well.

I think you're right. It's pathetic that a major political institution depends on bad news for it's political fortunes, which is why I will never vote for a Democrat.

It sickens me to know that they supported Clinton and his raids on Iraq; just another example of the deceitful Liberal Machine.
To: FairOpinion
It's hard to work up sympathy for Democrat politicians who "balance" the good of their country against their political careers, especially when it's all too clear that their careers come first.

Just one of the many reasons I stopped voting Democrat. Especially since they cannot even come up with a more coherent message or solution. Their playbook is threadbare and worn out.

Some sh** never changes. You know what, there is some hope here that some people may be swayed by this deceiptful bunch. If not, we will be doomed again by what the Lib's offer up.

But remember: November 2004 is still a long way off. It will still be a long way off a year from now.

It ias impossible to support our troops in Iraq and be against what they are doing in Iraq. The liberal socialist democrats have a lot of double taslking to do.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi explained this week to reporters how she is balancing the demands of her antiwar constituents with her role as leader of the House Democrats,Notice she left out any part about her duty to this country.
CNN has new poll numbers today:
80 percent of the people, Republican and Democrat, APPROVE of the war and the way George W. Bush is handling it.

The remark caused such a furor that some figured it was an indication that Mr. Daschle plans not to run for senator again, Mr. Kranz said.Have our prayers been answered? Is Tiny Tommy Dasshole dead? Uh, I mean politically.

I agree - I saw a picture of the Hitlery's dream team, and they did not look happy at all.
I loved Pelosi's statement: "I salute those in the streets who are protesting the war". Since it has been made public that all these "protesting the war" just happen to be financially supported by Communist or Maxist organizations. I sincerely hope this will come back to haunt her at election time.

You've got it right. Sadly, if Iraq is an issue at all in 2004, it will only be because of controversies concerning the post-Saddam government, the script for which has already been written by Liberals who will call it "corrupt" and "unrepresentative" or any other insult you care to add. I'm sure I don't have to remind anyone here that Bush the First had a 91 percent approval rating right about this time in 1991. I'm not saying it necessarily will happen again, but we are still after all talking about The Sheeple out there. Probably a bit more on the ball than in 1992, to be sure, and with a better President at the helm, but it will still come down to a tough fight with the increasingly ruthless and desperate Dems.

don't kid yourself...it's a LONNGG way to the '04 campaign.
the good people of SD will forgive anything and everything to retain Tommy's Senatorial seniority and the accompanying perqs that they have grown to know and love.
I wouldn't lay a nickel against Daschle just yet!

"Inside the Beltway, it may have been fodder for great debate," said Mr. Harpootlian, who hadn't heard about Mr. Kerry's comment
I have a very hard time believing that the Chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party had not heard about Mr. Kerry's comment.

Earlier I posted that democrats are a cancer on the body of decency.
I whish to amend that post to add that every drop of American blood being shed in Iraq is the sole and direct responsiblity of the democrat political party, the u.n., and the anti American protestors.
The democrat party operates hand in glove with the other two organizations.

Republicans seized on the remark as proof that the decorated Vietnam veteran is unpatriotic. Bull$#it. No, that's what Democrats claim-- every criticism of their remarks is questioning their patriotism. I have yet to actually hear any Republican say, "That makes me question so-and-so's patriotism."

Bush I was fired (by Republicans, basically) for reneging on his "No New Taxes" pledge. I don't think GW will make that mistake.

I don't think so. Many, many SF people were very put off by all the traffic problems these people caused, not to mention the mess they left (poop and urine) on the stairways to government buildings, which the working people had to clean up.
In fact, before the mayor got involved, the DA was ready to fine the organizers of the marches because of the distuptions to traffic and busines.
I think we might be surprised what reaction she will get when people are reminded of her support for these anti-America idiots.

They and their syncophantic press clacque may announce, and hope, and even pray that they are walking a fine line, but the fact is that they fell off that high wire long ago and have been crawling in the gutter ever since. And most of America clearly knows and understands this, very precisely.
They are twisting in the wind of their own voices, blowing through their own empty heads. And it really is fun to observe, isn't it?
To: FairOpinion
I took a peek at DU the other day. They are feaking out over there. Left wing wackos cannot say much more than, 'Impeach Bush' and 'The war is all out oil.' They are all a bunch of crazy Pinkos and Commies IMHO.
I posted a couple of very well thought out replies. My replies were polite and very low key. They banned me immediately. DUmb and getting more stupid by the moment.

Kerry's comments and his spinning, clintonesque defense of same go way beyond unpatriotic. He impugned the Honor of our professional Soldiers when he compared this Commander-in-Chief to the brutal despot in Iraq who is propped up by the Iraqi Republican Guard. Our Soldiers are not propping up a despot, despite Kerry's inference that they are.

Iraq won't be an issue, it will be a success story Bush will be able to point at.

"The democrats are not walking a fine line, they are walking the PLANK...KEEP WALKING!!!!! "

LOL! I like the way you put that. I hope it's true and people will see their true colors, where the "white and blue" is missing from the "red, white and blue" -- all is left is the RED. ( as in communist)
To: MHGinTN
I think Kerry's comments (and all Democrats' comments) show that the Democrats can only naysay, obstruct, and complain in the face of true accomplishments.
The only things that Bush brought to the table that others didn't were: 1) honesty in dealing with the people, and 2) conviction to see his objectives through to the end. For that, they label him "stupid."

"how she is balancing the demands of her antiwar constituents"
This is the biggest danger of Democrats. They appeal to and support every little fringe element of our society, no matter how Un-American, wacko or just outright dangerous. This is the only way they think they can continue to get elected. Getting elected and staying in power is paramount....no other considerations come into play.
Look at some of their supporters.
Illegal immigrants
Militant Gays
Militant Feminine Groups
War Protesters
Wacko environmentalists
Abortion rights groups
To name just a few.
