"One war at a time..."

Yup. That's where I'm at too. As the new Iraq considers its political options, I'm sure other M.E. nations will be watching very closely. Let's hope that our own nation will re-visit and review our own founding principles during that process and find the need to re-chisel our Constitution into something less malleable than rubber.

This is where that figure came from.......

Today there are about 2,000,000 in prison. There are more people in prison in the U.S. than any country in the world, including China and Russia, based on estimates by the Sentencing Project.27

The single most important explanation for the increase in the prison population has been drug enforcement. The 1985 Omnibus Drug Enforcement, Education and Control Act greatly increased penalties for drug offenders. These policies, and similar policies at state and local levels, included mandatory minimum sentences, and repeat offender provisions such as "three strikes and you're out." http://www.eisenhowerfoundation.org/policy/dsntwrk.html

The thread is stupid because the article is stupid.

You need to be careful how you respond. Not only is your response not valid, it lends credibility to those who would challenge your integrity. Only if you apologize for such inane comments can you regain respect. Otherwise, you go on permanent ignore as far as I'm concerned...really don't care what anyone else does. Perhaps the article has valid points, perhaps some points made are without foundation. Try arguing it that way and someone might listen. Otherwise, you're obsolete. Bye.

I won't lose any sleep. I can't recall you ever responding to one of my posts anyway.
