My Puerto Rican grandmother says the same images are being shown an Spanish television and Mexican television.

Add to that Chinese television. A Chinese friend described it to me, and it sounded like Al-Jazeira. Unfortunately, she does not know which version is the "truth."

In a parallel vein, I highly recommend the following article which was posted in August of last year. I sent it to several fellow officers before they deployed to the Gulf.

Why Arabs Lose Wars, originally posted by Freeper Valin

For posterity, I repeat my original comment:
An absolutely outstanding article. A must read.

Having gone to graduate school with Arab and Persian students alike, and then worked in an industry that does a lot of business in the Mideast, much of this rings -true.

Freepers, if you read nothing else today, read both parts of this article. Twice.

Great find.

The Arab journalist is right. But I doubt he'll have much influence over the Arab propaganda outlets posing as independent journalists. Still, at least we have this voice of dissent and it can be heard.

When he doesn't show it's just accepted, he would really LIKE to help you, he just doesn't want to carry furniture, spend time, whatever. Go figure."

That's it! They are like exactly like Democrats. No wonder I get the same thoughts of revulsion when I hear the speak on the news or a talk show.

Arabs=Democrats Democrats=Arabs

He explained that in the culture if you want something to be true, just say it. It's like "that is how I really feel and you can't hold that against me".

Or "I did not have sex with that woman, Ms Lewinsky" or "for the children" or "save our schools and give every child a chance"..... etc..

Very enlightening. A complete new understanding.

OK. Will do.

It is interesting al Jazeera is recently sending out for spin control to American TV stations some of their more slick journalists who have no trouble handling English, who know how to roll the non-Arabs in cosmopolitan international settings, and as thus are able to 'buffer' what they are truly saying to their own insular audiences in Arabic, to become 'filtered' for the American viewer's palate.

This one particular aJ reporter (wire framed glasses, four day old beard) goes on in impeccable English on CNN about how propagandist-for-the-Iraq/facilitator-of-war-crimes-on-US-POWs al-Jazeera is "actually, Larry, quite balanced".

Yet, I have watched at least 100 hours of it now, including this guy's reports in Arabic, and it isn't anything NEAR balanced. It is terribly slanted in favor of the Arab mindset and emotion; portraying the USA as infidelist invaders, careless killers of Arab civilians and quite devoid of any "liberation imagery".

Those aJ reporters should be careful; because some of us out here know what they are REALLY airing, and are not fooled by their carefully tailored English comments for naive American audiences.

Hard to tell the difference sometimes between the Arab media and, say, the New York Times.

Al-Sharq Al-Wasat is a stunningly different kind of Arab journalist. Let us hope that this break from the past will become the norm.

Now if we could only get the European press and our own left-wing rags to be this objective.

Intriguing link.

And the real answer to the Arab "closed circle."

The author is arrogant and abrasive but generally quite readable. He makes a few associations I can't buy, but in general the work looks pretty solid. His knowledge of ancient religions, history, archaeology, and languages is extensive. If you choose to read it, be sure to avial yourself of the links.
