'We shoot them down like the morons they are': US general

Hundreds of Muslim fighters, many of them non-Iraqis, were putting up a stronger fight for Baghdad than Iraq's Republican Guard or the regular army, a top United States military officer said yesterday.
"They stand, they fight, sometimes they run when we engage them," Brigadier-General John Kelly said.
"But often they run into our machine guns and we shoot them down like the morons they are."
General Kelly, assistant commander of the about 20,000-strong 1st Marine Division, said US intelligence indicated that there might be anywhere between 500 and 5000 of the fighters, whom he described as terrorists.
"They appear willing to die. We are trying our best to help them out in that endeavour," he said.
General Kelly said a captured Syrian fighter who had his leg blown off had refused medical help. "They are arrogant. They are determined," he said.
The fighters were armed with AK47 rifles and hand-held rockets, he said.
"We are finding them more dangerous than the conventional Iraqi units."
General Kelly said pockets of the Republican Guard and Iraq's regular army were engaging thousands of US marines who had entered Baghdad from the north-east after seizing control of bridges across the Tigris River.
The resistance was unco-ordinated, he said.
"There's no shifting of forces ... there are no reinforcements ... there is no cohesion to the whole thing."
Any rational military command would have surrendered by now, he said.
"There can be no escape."
General Kelly said marines were about to seize buildings and land in Baghdad that were of strategic importance.
"Once we take ground we tend not to give it up."

We have to kill every one of them. And guard the borders to kill any that try to return to Iran or Syria or especially Jordan or Palestine.
No prisoners for these terrorist non-combatants. They should be summarily executed if captured.

Won't it be funny when they get to the afterlife expecting to be with those virgins and all that's there is a huge guy named Abdulla with a hairy back and a moustache asking them to raise their robes?

"Manila John would like this Gyrene general." I salute Manila John, and I like this Devil Dog general, too.
Those are the kinds of words I've been wanting to hear since we started this thing:
"Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out!"
But, then, I think like a Marine, too.

DU is very saddened by this attitude. Awesome, ain't it?

It's "Aliens". "Alien 3" was held in a maximum security prison where there were no firepower weapons, but axes, fire, and, perhaps, chains, to defend with if my memory serves me.

Yeah terrorists, come to Iraq to kill Americans if you can. The more the better. I hope they all come! That would be nice and neat, wouldn't it?
You don't suppose George W. Bush has used Iraq as a trap, do you?

It is a good thing that we are dispatching these fanatics in such numbers in this theater and not have to hunt them down later. But we should give thanks that we don't live in a society so bereft of hope, so empty of opportunity that we would travel across international boundries to tilt at windmills. The dems like to pit the rich versus the poor in this country but in the Middle East if you are the one in five that wins Life's Lottery then you really aren't anything.
And travelling to Iraq to face the infidels and maybe make some money or gain some fame or win some virgins just isn't so crazy after all.
Be grateful America.

We must go forward with firm conviction, ruthless at times; but we must not lose sight of what we are trying to accomplish...
We must foster and show the world that individual self determination is the key and root to individual prosperity...and that pursuit must opperate within the confines of law and due process that preserves that opportunity...and rights of the individual

Marines aren't quite as easy as taking down an unsuspecting stewardess in the middle of making coffee....
