[history]
April 9, 2003 -- YOU know those protesters who carry posters with a short brush mustache under the president's nose and the slogan "Bush = Hitler"? The protestors who, rational liberals assure us, represent the irresponsible and reckless wing of the antiwar, anti-Bush movement?

The German people didn't turn to Hitler out of fear. Hitler's appeal was based on hatred and a desire for revenge.

Duguay's commitment to the serious cinematic exploration of ideas can best be understood by multiple viewings of his masterpieces, "Scanners 2: The New Order" and "Scanners 3: The Takeover." In these films, people's heads blow up.

The parallels between pre-WWII Germany and the US today are non-existant. However, France is playing the same part: In the early 1930's with Germany, and today with Iraq. In both cases, they refused to do anything when the country refused to live up to the agreements they signed, ending a war. In the case of the 1930's, France was the predominant power in continental Europe, and they did NOTHING. Today, France is a self-important little country that does everything it can to obstruct the US in stopping Hussien.

It must be wonderful to live in a drug-induced universe where fear is never justified, on a personal or a national level.

Hitler's appeal was based on hatred and a desire for revenge. Actually, the early campaign posters for the Nazi party promised Bread and Work. (A less sophisticated version of"It's the economy , stupid!") What America really should fear is a party that puts social programs before personal freedoms...

This movie is really, sub-consciously a self-incrimination by the liberal/marxist left.
The real ... actual parallel is the one of them to the tyrant wanna-be Clinton, and how easliy they were caught up in his administration's mystic fantasy of power, greed, self gratification and the rule of fear at any cost. That's where the real parallel lies.

They need DNA to test to see if they really killed Hussein or not. They can find DNA from Hussein's butt on Dan Rather's lips.

This is hilarious!
It is the LEFT in this country which has always had a nostalgia for the Weimar period in Germany. It is the LEFT that sacked the universities in the Sixties and placed the intellectual life of this country under one-party rule, a grip which is only very recently startng to weaken.
Read the late Allan Bloom's "The Closing of the American Mind" for more on this.
Smearing all Rightists as Fascists or Nazis is so old and so tired that this piece of garbage will stink from the opening credits. One would have to be in an almost hysterical state to believe there are any similarities between Dubya and Hitler.
To: hellinahandcart; dighton; aculeus; sauropod
Now, that's not entirely fair. Duguay is
also responsible for last year's masterpiece, "Extreme Ops", wherein some sort of vaguely Serbian war criminal is given his comeuppance by a hip, happening gang of X-treme...snowboarders.
I sincerely wish I was making this up.

You must understand. The Communists of the world are in a hysterical state because one of THEIR strongholds is in the process of being liberated! You must also understand that after decades of mind-numbed public education and indoctrination by the anti-God, anti-human, pro-communist manifesto goals poured out by the American "enteratainment" industry and education propagandists.....there ARE millions of Americans who will scoop this type of garbage and take it as gospel. I personally know five people right now who would believe this in an instant to be true. (yes, I am surrounded by liberals).

Exactly. It was his ability to lure them away from the reality of their humiliation after WWI into a fantasy about a return of the glorious empire. Kinda like these Liberals desperate to return to their glory days under Slick Willie. And like Hitler, they'll do whatever it takes to get there.
To: Dutchgirl
Excellent catch. Since the economy wasn't in crisis the Clintinoids immediately latched on to the semantically brilliant slogan 'Its for the children.' as a preamble to a wide ranging series of violently unconstitutional acts-WACO, its for the children there is child abuse going on, 'assualt rifle ban'-its for the children guns bad, etc.
To: Fintan
The Clintoone's are a hoot!
As for the Hitler-Bush theme, the lefties have apparently decreed a concerted effort in that direction. Michael ("The Snout") Moore's new movie will be a hitpiece alleging Bush-Hitler connection in WW2, protestors wave signs, call-in talkers are all over the radio waves shouting that Bush is like Hitler and citing something read into the Congressional Record in the '40s, which is where Moore's movie takes off too. Clearly the professional "activists" have been rallied and have their scripts ready. But it's so boring and ill-timed, no one will watch the documentary or anything else along those lines.
Meanwhile, we can counterattack with allegations that liberals and DemonRats built the notorious Wankers' World Village and sent innocent children to die there. It makes as much sense and would be infinitely more entertaining.

Thanks for the heads up!

It's not just the Hitler movie - there is also a new Napoleon and a new Ceasar movie on the horizon.
Looks like the Hollyweird group is trying to establish a thought pattern - Bush is a tyrant; Bush wants to rule the world; Bush is taking over weak countries; Bush wants to be EMPEROR, etc.
But ... I also see another message - ALL OF THESE MEN FAILED. The dems/libs are salivating over Bush failing at something (he's been a big disappointment to them in that regard so far).
However, one of the problems I see with Napoleon - he was FRENCH! so I don't think that will sell. As for Ceasar, he was Roman (I don't remember my history well enough to know if he was Italian or what nationality he was), and I never really could figure out the underlying reasons why they killed him; but I'm sure today's Bush-haters wish it was that easy to get rid of Bush.
But ... I thought it was interesting this morning when Rumsfeld said that Saddam had now joined the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, etc. as failed, brutal dictators.
