ELON, N.C. -- Former CBS news anchorman Walter Cronkite called President George W. Bush "grossly arrogant" for invading Iraq without the approval of the United Nations.
Walter Cronkite appeared Tuesday at Elon University for a news conference and a taped conversation with David Gergen, a former presidential adviser.

The 86-year-old said the proliferation of cable news channels has advantages, but has harmed CBS, ABC and NBC. What does he mean - "but"?

Yes, it's far better to continue to debate about Iraq and oil prices and do nothing about the rape rooms, the torture, the 2 million murdered, the prospect of an even worse 30 years after Saddam from his stunningly sadistic son, the invasions of peaceful neighbors, etc.
What a shame that such a historical icon has turned out to be such a doddering old fool.

Cronkite can go straight to hell along with all the other America haters!!
To: blackbag
We should change his name to Half-Crocked instead of Cronkite.

Cronkite and company were the reason I stopped watching CBS and any other news after returning from Vietnam. He was a crock then and still is.

To: blackbag
Cronkite = "Grossly irrelevant"
To: blackbag
Pompous old windbag used to sign the air with
and thats the way it is as if he was the source of all truth.
Now if that aint arrogant, then I dont know what is.
To: blackbag; dead
Cronkite joined CBS in 1950 as a reporter, and became anchorman ...in 1963. ...He retired in 1981.Yeah, but when did the brain die?

Dwindling viewership has led to budget cuts in news departments Maybe viewership is dwindling because Americans don't believe Bush is arrogant and don't believe the US security should be dictated by the arrogant French.
To: blackbag
Well ain't that the pot calling the kettle black. Cronkite is one of the most arrogant human beings of all time.

To: blackbag
Walter, ask the Iraqi citizens how "arrogant" Dubya is. Then take a good, long look in a mirror to see the epitome of arrogance.
To: blackbag
He is worse than a liberal. He is an internationalist who believes in compromising American sovereignty for the pipe-dream of "world government."

For all his achievements, it must be borne in mind that Cronkite is about 152 years old and cannot perceive the modern world. His eyes are MANY decades old, and can see only the old.
The modern UN cannot be trusted with real repsonsibility for security matters. Period.
And it's not arrogant. "Arrogant" means to exaggerate one's own worth or importance in an overbearing manner or through presumptuous claim. The US doesn't exaggerate anything...we are that strong and that willing to kick off in your a--.
To: blackbag
The last inauguration he covered he could not even remember the name of the new president...
To: ZULU
The memories of Cronkite on a sailboat with Bill and Hillary Clinton are a reminder as to just what type of
person Cronkite admires.
To: blackbag
"Dwindling viewership has led to budget cuts in news departments and less editorial control.
Who did he say was arrogant.
To: blackbag
Can you find out Cronkite's e-mail address?
To: blackbag
. . . David Gergen, a former presidential adviser To which of our Presidents did this man provide advice?

Well, Walter, as a working, tax-paying and voting U.S. citizen, I don't seem to recall anyhting in the United States Constitution that mentions us getting "the approval of the United Nations" for anything since we are a republic and a sovereign nation. And where were you, Walter, when your little yachting buddy was bombing Iraq, invading Kosovo, getting U.S. troops killed in Mogadishu and bombing aspirin factories?????????????? |

So What! That means the leftist elite no longer can control what the news is. Cronkite is a legend in his own mind.

So much for Cronkites pro-American credibility.

...and Walter Cronkite is grossly irrelevant. He needs to just go away. Fade into history. He is now nothing more than a "useful idiot".
To: lady lawyer
He is worse than a liberal. He is an internationalist who believes in compromising American sovereignty for the pipe-dream of "world government." Exactly. This is not an old age, brain failing aberration for Walter. He's been working well over 50 years to undermine our country and its ideals from the inside. It's just that his mask worked better when the evil ones had a monopoly on information.
This anti-American SoS is seeing the successful efforts of his lifetime crumble away to nothing. He had a great ride for way too long, but now he'll end his days a bitter old failure. Rest in disgrace, Walty.
