Tell that to the families of those that died.
How truly outrageous and unfeeling.

The Left's new line: "It was easy, so that proves military force was unnecessary."
To: Conservativegreatgrandma
LOL!! It is laughable how the Demos. are grabbing at straws to attempt justification for their erroneous positions!

Someone needs to ask Harkin to name someone who said the Iraqi army was a threat to the U.S. That was NOT why we invaded.

This is a glorious day. All across the land, Democrats just can't take it any more, and the normal political instinct to know when to shut up is being discarded in a vain effort to spin this outcome. These comments are gonna haunt the Dems big-time next year.

Spin . . . spin . . . spin. I wonder if anyone can dig up any earlier quotes of Harkin predicting a quagmire, thousands of casualties, etc. But, in the final analysis, Harkin should ask the people of Irag if Saddam was a harmless little gnat.
To: Desecrated
And so it begins...how predictable. Yup, it is very predictable. Denegrate military success because it goes against their "war never solves anything" core belief. Cognitive dissonance. Sip the punch, repeat after me..."ignorance is bliss"

Tom, your hero Bill Clinton bombed Serbia for 78 days, killing countless number of civilians with very few US casualties, and Milosevic wasn't any threat to the US, yet you cheered that war on. Your opinion means NOTHING!

Individual Democrats continue to secure their personal leftist bases at the price of rendering the Democratic party unelectable on a national level.
This makes me happy.
To: Conservativegreatgrandma
Harkin voted for a congressional resolution authorizing use of force before last year's election, but earlier this year became increasingly critical of the move toward war, saying President Bush was not consulting enough with Congress or extending diplomatic efforts.Another jerk having it both ways.

They were the ones that thought that a war w/Iraq would be a many years long Vietnam-like quaqmire!

This smarmy snideness of the demonrats is going to kill them. People don't like others who rain of the parade. Right now this country is aglow over what has been accomplished in Iraq. The 'rats are simply out of step with the march of history.

I LOVE it....if these idiots keep talking like this, then America will see a new dawn...an era in which liberal democrats are thrown out of office in every village, hamlet, and city from sea to shinning sea.
To: dighton
"approved the resolution . . . but earlier this year became increasingly critical"
Because he has neither balls nor the courage of his convictions. He saw the street demonstrations and went limp.
To: MEG33
Harkin draws conclusions like he draws flies.
To: Conservativegreatgrandma
So were the Iraqi people he murdered paper people? Did he only cut out paper tongues? Etc... What a shameful view.
To: Conservativegreatgrandma
Tm Harkin, man of...integrity?...who lied, claiming to be a Vietnam veteran, and isn't.
Nothing...absolutely nothing he says has any credibility in the face of such a monumentally immoral lie.

Huh? excuse me,you're kidding aren't you?
Isn't that how it was originally sold to the American public? first, the potential threat of WMDs & bio-chemical attacks on us, it then became liberation of the Iraqi people, then it became regime change.

To: Conservativegreatgrandma
As an Iowan, nothing Tom Harkin says surprises me. He has been talking out of both sides of his mouth for so long, he would lie if the truth was better. This guy makes me want to vomit, and I am appalled that every six years, he manages to trick enough middle-of-the-road voters to get himself elected. His stunt of authorizing force prior to the election, then running away from his position after the fact is classic Harkin. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

Well, if anything, he goes directly AGAINST what America feels in recent polls where about 70%+ think this war is just regardless of Saddams WMD or military might based on his war crimes. Not that im a big fan to invade any country who has atrocities, but it was exceptionally poor in Iraq.
Needless to say, WMD will be found and so will inks to other "friends" like France and Russia.

I suppose if it was you or your loved ones who were being fed into one of those human shredder machines Mr. Senator ... or receiving the chemical attacks ... or enduring the rape rooms ... or having your friggin arms ripped off by the feyadeen you might feel a little different about his being a paper tiger ... you flaming, ignorant, self-serving, bastardized IDIOT!.

The Iraqi army--tanks, guns, et cetera--weren't the threat. The threat was Iraq's WMD arsenal, and his apparent willingness to cozy up to terrorists.

Harkin:
It will never be known whether there could have been a nonmilitary resolution to the standoff over weapons of mass destruction
- Daschle was certain diplomacy would have worked.
- Harkin says we'll never know if diplomacy would have worked.

Yes, and Reagan had nothing to do with the fall of the Berlin wall, and we were all cold warriors anyway. In fact we forced Bush to go into this war, he wanted to leave those poor Iraqi's in prison. How dare anyone question the liberals vision on Human Rights.

Attack the war and if that doesn't work, attack the peace.
Harkin is a person who truly does not belong in the Senate. Maybe I can resign myself to having Saddam Hussein supporters elected from place like New York and California, but it is the 'Rats who get elected from the Red Zone states that are really killing us.

There was a post yesterday which described the sources of Iraq's military arsenal, and virtually all of it was from France, Germany, Russia, and China.

What we were told and what you saw in the press last fall and earlier this year is that he had a massive war machine," said Harkin, the most outspoken critic of the war in Iraq among members of the Iowa congressional delegation. We were NEVER told that. We were told their conventional forces had been diminished since 91, but that they have been developing WMD capabilities that must be stopped for OBVIOUS reasons.
"It looks now like this was just a Third World country - there were people fighting with tennis shoes on, on the Iraqi side," Harkin told reporters.
Patty Murray? Seriously, it's funny to hear this communist deride the "third world" country of Iraq. The guy is sick. He is actually pissed that we have been successful.
"I don't know what else we're going to find, but..."
That won't stop you from braying like the jackass dumbocrat you are.
"So if they were that weak, where we could just roll over them like that, tell me again how he was such a big threat in the past?" the senator added.
No problem. Osama and his boys were in even worse shape than Iraq militarily and financially, and yet they were a signficant threat, as 9-11 showed the world. If Saddam's regime were permitted to develop WMD, he would pose an even worse threat to US security.

North Korea is a paper tiger too, except now that have nukes and can kill 10 million people with the press of a button. We should have waited til Saddam had that power.
To: Conservativegreatgrandma
I guess the Taliban, was no serious threat either.
I swear, everytime a leftist takes a breath, it's a waste of perfectly good air.

Excuse me, because you're kidding aren't you? You didn't even mention his Army in YOUR post.
His military itself was never the justification for going to war with Iraq.

Your opinion means NOTHING!Excellent point. I think estimates are about 2000-3000 innocent civilians killed by Bill Clinton in Serbia.
And not only was Milosevic no threat to the US, but the Serbians historically were our friends, sheltering downed US pilots in WWII and protecting them from Nazi capture.
While Milosevic, an ex(?)communist, was no nice guy, he was defending Serbia from an invasion of Muslim terrorists, including Al Qaeda operatives. There was NO genocide.
