Liberating France. . . again

Exclusive commentary by Val MacQueen

Apr 12, 2003

I have seen it suggested that on their way home after triumphing in Iraq, British and American troops might like to stop over in Paris for the weekend and conquer France. Some, though, cautioned that a weekend is not long enough to refresh the French gene pool. Others have expressed amazement that anyone would want to stop off in France under any circumstances. Still others would like to know what mousse the French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin uses on his hair.

These are all important considerations, but they are dwarfed next to the big question: Has any statesman, in the history of the world, committed such relentless political suicide, on such a public stage, as M Jacques Chirac? Chirac alone – admittedly with the tacit approval of a lack luster French electorate – has managed to marginalize the UN and the Security Council, thus doing George Bush a favor of such political magnitude it can never be repaid. At the same time, he has set the countries and aspirant countries of the European Union at each other’s throats – mainly France’s. Germany, we note, is back-pedalling like mad. And, while accusing the leaders who are actually running the war and doing a damn fine job of it, of simplisme he has managed to inadvertently make one point plain with brutal clarity: the continent of Europe is unable to protect itself and owes its current comparative wealth to the protection offered for the last 50 years to American-financed NATO.

Thus, in one fell swoop of “nuanced European diplomacy”, Chirac has caused the world to see that the UN is indeed the blatant thugocracy we always supposed it to be – witness his attempts to bribe Cameroon and Guinea to veto that new SC resolution. Cameroon’s and Guinea’s votes were obviously for sale, but the right price hadn’t been reached before President Bush pulled the rug out from under them. We have always known the UN was a money printing machine for the senior people who work – if that is not too strong a word – in it, and the third world dictators and kleptomaniacs who send their “ambassadors” there, but we’ve never seen it in such transparent action before. Its supine politics, its corruption, its empty posturing are revealed in the vivid glare of Jacques Chirac’s sophisticated European diplomacy – otherwise known as blatant bribery – to be beyond foul. Kofi Annan, enabler par excellence, should be using the spellcheck on his resumé right now instead of making delusional plans for the rebuilding of Iraq. Jacques Chirac has haughtily indicated to the US, Britain and Australia that if we will just back down and admit he was right all along, he will be prepared to allow French companies to be involved in the rebuilding job. This has caused much hollow laughter in the corridors of power of the nations that will actually be doing the rebuilding.

Chirac gave us another blinding insight when he inadvertently crashed NATO. His insistence that Europe develop its own defense pacts without reference to the United States revealed that, in fact, they didn’t have the money to do so. Worse, it finally dawned on Americans that they have been funding Europe’s lavish social programs for the past 50 years by picking up the tab for the continent’s defense. Other than Britain, not one European country has the military might to defend even its own landmass. Britain spends twice the amount on defense as the whole rest of the European Union combined. Taxpayers in America are now figuring that they’d rather save the NATO money and pay for improved public services for themselves, not Europe. In a further piece of nitwittery, in a French snit, Chirac seems to have hurriedly cobbled together a defense pact between France, Germany and – here’s the really scary bit – Belgium! (They pointedly refused to invited Britain to join, thus saving Tony Blair the embarrassment of having to snicker up his sleeve.) Anyway, the three best friends now have the encouraging news that Luxembourg is considering joining them. Sounds like a bandwagon. Now, if only they can get Andorra to hop on board … How they’re going to pay for this does not seem to have been discussed, but doubtless the French haute couture industry is hard at work designing stylish new uniforms for the French army.

While we might consider his one-man demolition of the United Nations his main achievement, we shouldn’t overlook another vital accomplishment of the past three months: the wrecking of the EU. For this, democratic thinking people of Europe owe him a big vote of remerciment! By firmly posturing and to the rest of the world about America’s hegemonic determination to clear out the terrorist nests in the Middle East, and allying France, with a supercilious sneer, with Germany, he caused Donald Rumsfeld to refer to axis of Europe as Old Europe. The phrase stuck. Mr Rumsfeld seems to be quite relaxed about this. And another phrase for France, Germany and Belgium (home of the EU money trough) has taken root: Axis of Weasels. By telling the aspirant former East European countries who suffered for so long under the Soviet boot that, by speaking up in support of the United States and the allies in the cause of freedom from fear, they had missed a historic opportunity to keep quiet, and, in addition, lecturing them on manners, calling them mal élevé – badly brought up - he has made an effective enemy of the entire Vilnius 10.

On his final rampage through the delicate china shop that is international relations, Chirac has managed to prove to the world how insignificant are France’s opinions at the top table. Having sidelined France from international negotiations, has seriously damaged the French economy which is now subject to serious consumer boycotts and the French tourist industry with his sophisticated European nuances. In a stunning act of ledgerdemaine he has demonstrated that the opinions and participation of France are totally irrelevant to the conduct of international affairs. The world has realised, at long last, that France doesn’t matter.

Thus, in three months, master politician Jacques Chirac has shone a bright light on the workings of the UN and revealed a roiling nest of malevolent, greedy vipers, has caused America and Britain to rethink NATO, has alienated 10 countries which, when they eventually join the EU will be pressing immediately for changes in its current undemocratic structure and the dismantling of the French German axis, and – in another magnificent own goal, has ensured, by his disloyalty towards the coalition fighting to save the world from terrorism, and indeed his disloyalty to Western civilization, that no French company will be invited to bid for reconstruction. His disloyalty and hositility to NATO have ensured that no French high tech or aerospace companies will be invited to bid by the Allies’ and their supporters’ defense departments. From now on, they’ll be confined to selling their space satellites and rocket launchers to their former colonies in banana-producing W Africa.

You’d have to have a heart of stone not to break into tears of helpless laughter.

This had me rolling around on the floor with laughter. The only thing I could add is that France hasn't really mattered since the end of the Napoleonic wars. Hope someone slips Putin a translation of this article.

Very, very good. And very, very funny.

And in addition to being good and funny, this is true.

Blacque Jacque Cheroot has done something that even Pierre Laval and Vichy France didn't accomplish - alienating the United States and Great Britain from a rather froggish France.

France is Not a Western Country Anymore

By Guy Milliere | March 31, 2003

French-bashing is everywhere in the American media. I am French, and I must say
if Americans knew completely what's happening in France, the French-bashing
would be far harsher.

Jacques Chirac has been a friend of Saddam Hussein for more than thirty years.
He allowed the sale of nuclear facilities to Iraq that were destroyed just in
time by Israël. He sold Iraq the planes that were been used to gas thousands of
Kurds. And Saddam is not the only friend Chirac has. Chirac has never met a
ruthless dictator he did not like. Worse, Chirac is unprincipled and greedy. It
is common knowledge in France that he stole a lot of money when he was the mayor
of Paris, and everyone knows that if he had not been re-elected in May 2002, he
would be in jail now. To hear him speaking about morality or international law
nauseates every decent Frenchman.

And Chirac is not the only politician of this stripe in France. These days, it
is becoming hard to find a French politician ready to speak about human rights,
freedom or democracy. All of them seem to have the same speechwriter or to
belong to the same totalitarian political party; all of them are anti-American,
anti-Israeli and "pacifists." They regard Western civilization as something
filthy and abhorrent.

If you read the newspapers, it's the same. At times it seems the only
difference between the Soviet Union twenty years ago and France today is that in
Soviet Union you had only one Pravda, and in France you now have at least ten
such propaganda outlets: Different titles, same content. Their party line is
clear in reporting on the personalities found in the present Middle Eastern
crisis. Saddam Hussein, the "President of Iraq"? Well, maybe he has been brutal,
but you know, in "those" countries... George W. Bush? He 's a "moron" - a former
alcoholic, who has become a crazy fanatic, in fact the most dangerous man on the
face of earth. Ariel Sharon? A fascist who loves to kill Arabs. Arafat? A great
freedom fighter. When an American general speaks, it is merely propaganda, but
when Tariq Aziz pontificates, it is pure truth. Almost everyday you hear
anti-Semitic remarks, to boot.

The anti-Semitism has created a threat to the physical safety for French Jews.
Almost every week, some Jews get mugged, simply for being Jews. Almost nobody
pays attention to it. When an anti-Semitic act is so disgusting it is impossible
to hide it, journalists will speak of "confrontation between communities." When
confronted with the reality that these "confrontations" are always Muslims
attacking Jews, the editorial response: "Just because

there has yet to be a single documented case of a Jew attacking a Muslim yet
doesn't mean it will never happen. . . ."

And Jews are not the only victims of France's new identification with radical
Islam. In many French cities with a growing radical Islamist population, no
teenage girl can go out in the evening, at least not without a full burqa. If
she does, it will mean that "she is for everybody": in short, a whore. In the
same cities, every teenage girl - regardless of religion - has to wear the
Muslim veil if she does not want to be harassed or killed. Almost every month, a
young woman is mugged and raped in a suburb of a big city. Gang rape has become
so frequent that a new word, used by the rapists themselves to define their
hideous actions, is used by everybody:

tournantes (revolving). To the rapists, the woman is nothing, a mere object to
be thrown away after use. The people who speak about "revolving" seem to forget
a human being is involved as the victim. Policemen do nothing. Every decent
person knows the problem is Islam, but no one dares to say it. It could be
dangerous. The streets are not safe.

One year ago, a French Muslim decided to create a new business: he was tired of
seeing people drinking Coca-Cola - all this money going to Americans! He found a
factory and started to produce Mecca Cola. On the label, he put a picture of the
Al Aqsa mosque, with a large part of his profits would help to support the
Palestinian cause. In some suburbs of Paris, Coca-Cola has disappeared; Mecca
Cola has replaced it. A few days ago, another Muslim

businessman announced he will start to sell Muslim-Up. It will have the taste of
Sprite or Seven-Up, but it will be a Muslim drink - and naturally the profits
will go to the Palestinian jihad, as well.

Three radio stations in France are Muslim radio stations, and if you listen to
them, dedicated to broadcasting the voice of hate and racism all day long. One
radio station belongs to a friend of the rightist Jean-Marie Le Pen, and
curiously, if you listen to it, you will hear the same voice of hate and racism.
Rightists and radical Muslims have discovered they have many things in common.

If you want to understand why all this is happening, you have to understand one
thing: thirty years ago, French governments started to have a new foreign
policy. They called this new policy, "Arabian Policy." France became closer to
Arab countries - all of them disgusting dictatorships. France "benefited" by
doing business easily in these countries. In exchange, France had to push Europe
to unknot its ties with Israël and the United States. In

exchange too, "professors" came from the Arabian dictatorships to teach the
Arabic language to the young Arabs living in France. The only book they used to
teach the Arabic language was THE book, Al Kuran.

Now comes the time to pay the check: six million Muslims live in France, at
least ten per cent of them are radical Islamists poised on the edge of violence.
And these radical Muslims have allies on both the extreme Left and the extreme
Right. France is not a Western country anymore, it is now the leader of the
Arab/Muslim world. Israel has to know France is its main enemy. The United
States has to understand they have nothing to expect from today's France except
nastiness, treason, and cheating.
