Albany, NY A pro-life billboard on Interstate 90 in the heart of the State Capitol features Patricia Heaton, Twice-Emmy award winner from the popular TV show Everybody Loves Raymond.
"'Refuse to Choose. Women Deserve Better than Abortion' , the billboard's message is directed to our New York State legislators", according to Carol Crossed, Community Affairs Coordinator for Feminists for Life of New York (FFLNY). Heaton is Honorary Chair of the groups National affiliate Feminists for Life of America Inc.
The billboard, which debuted this week at I- 90 and Everritt Road intersection, was paid for by members across New York State, but especially in the Albany area. "Thanks to the extreme generosity of our members, we exceeded our fundraising goal. This will allow Heaton's image and her pro-life / pro-woman message to go up in other cities across New York" says Jessica Shanahan, FFLNY President.
A second billboard "Abortion has two victims: One Dead. One Wounded", sponsored by Feminists for Life of New York, will appear simultaneously with Patricia Heaton. It will be located at the intersection of Interstates 90 and 787.

She also walked out of an awards ceremony in Hollywood when it got blatantly political. Good for her! She plays the most believable wife on television, and this move shows bravery in the face of the Hollywood liberal onslought.

Patricia Heaton is a Republican and GWB supporter.
The conservative celebs are out there - but (with the exception of Heaton) they tend to be more reserved in their political opinions than the lefties.

Didn't she also walk out of the MTV awards (or something like that) because of the obscene language at the show?

Thanks for the website. I do have just one quibble with FFL-they're against the Death Penalty, which I support. Otherwise, they're sending the right message. Especially the message that says abortion is NOT the answer or solution to a woman's problems. The intact family is.

Thanks for the ping!! Will check out the billboard later this week, when I am over in that part of town.
Everybody Loves Raymond is one of my favorite shows, especially after having grown up on LI. The entire cast is a class act!

Not only is this lovely (Catholic) woman pro-life, but I heard she also walked out of an especially raunchy awards ceremony. I can't remember which.

Everybody Loves Raymond star Patricia Heaton walked out of the 30th Annual American Music Awards Monday night (1/17/03) because she was disgusted by An onslaught of lewd jokes and off-color remarks, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Heaton was scheduled to introduce a prerecorded retrospective of the AMAs, but left the awards show early in disgust. Heaton told the Plain Dealer, "I'm no prude, but this was such a vulgar and disgusting show
what was passing for humor basically ranged from stupid to vulgar, and I just thought, I'm not going to be part of this. So I walked out and said, Get me my car. I'm leaving. She continued, The entire evening became about bleeping
It was as if they were trying to become more like the MTV awards. But it's one thing if this kind of stuff is on MTV at 10 at night. It's quite another if it's on ABC at 8 o'clock. I don't know what Dick Clark was thinking
.It felt like I was in the Roman Coliseum. As far as I'm concerned, it was an affront to anyone with a shred of dignity, self-respect and intelligence.
Thank you Patricia Heaton for taking a stand for decency!

Doubt it, it is consistently a time slot winner on Mondays. Actually, the whole line-up on CBS Monday is pretty good. The only time I watch CBS (unless it's golf on Sundays)

Whoever's doing the ad campaign is brilliant.
"Abortion has two victims; one dead and one wounded."
Heaton has four young sons. While I assumed she was Catholic, I've read she's Presbyterian.

I believe she was raised a Catholic. I read her book when it first came out and could swear she said she was a "lapsed" Catholic. I can't remember if she stayed or strayed.
I bought her book because I like here and wanted to support her, but obviously, I haven't retained much of what I read. LOL!!

I just googled her. Heaton was raised a Catholic; her sister is a Dominican nun.
However, she is now a Presbyterian in Los Angeles and regularly attends church with her husband and four sons.
I have heard she is as pleasant a person as she appears on screen. That's saying something for an actor.
And it takes real guts to stand up like she does when surrounded by so many fools with money and power.

I don't know about that.
I think ALF was still NBC's number 1 show when it was axed. But ALF constantly challanged the liberal world view. Even though Willie was a lefty, he was always portrayed as a bufoon and ALF's conservative ideas generally won.
They even had an episode where Kate thought she would go back to work, and soon saw the error of her ways and returned home to be a full-time mom.
Anyway, my recollection was that it was number one when it was cancelled.

I'm impressed!!! Very impressed. An intelligent reasonable response that addresses the murder of millions of innocent babies. A compassionate message to those considering abortion.
Does Feminist for Life of New York offer counseling and alternatives to abortion?

I believe Family Values Shows like Everybody Loves Raymond will continue to grow in demand as Americans start standing up to these Pushy, Liberal Hollywood Elitists who have tried to shove their agenda on us for years!

I hope you are wrong, but the truth is, unless the money is going away, it will probably be safe. Still, it would be good to get some contact info on her network...

An onslaught of lewd jokes and off-color remarks,
Wasn't it the Osbournes onstage that drove her to the exit?
Honestly, I don't know why anyone would think that cussing bleeped out is funny, in and of itself, but un-bleeped cussing in a public awards ceremony? Whatever happened to decency and good taste?

To: Endeavor
She was born a Catholic. Married for a short time. Divorced.
Married her second husband. Had four sons and is now a member of the Presbyterian Church which she attends regularly in L.A. with her family and where her kids go to Sunday School.
Sorry. RC's loss is our gain (although her Catholic upbringing obviously has served her well).
