13 Points Agreed for New Iraqi GovernmentThat sounds vaguely unlucky. Couldn't they have added an additional point condemning Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon or something?

The 2nd part of your post answers the 1st.
Iran has EVERYTHING to do with this protest. Its so painfully obvious even the mainstream press' investigative journalist should be able to pick it up.
Maybe the actually did put it together, but since protests make Bush look bad...

Naw. There are the 13 Principles of Maimonides so 13 is not necessarily a bad luck number. I am NOT that superstitious. ;-)

Make all the laws match current US federal laws as a start. That would defeat the whole purpose of establishing a Constitutional Republic in Iraq.

Make all the laws match current US federal laws as a start. You really want them to hate us don't you.

They were concerned that the leading Shiite organisation in Iraq had boycotted the meeting. The Irani revolutionary government is where these Iraqi Shiite leadership hearts reside. Question is, can the common people in their twisted flock resist the Irani influence and form a representative government that tolerates other religious beliefs? Living under despotism is a hard habit to break away from. It requires self confidence and personal responsibility.

We want you to establish your own democratic system based on Iraqi traditions and values.....I urge you to take this opportunity to co-operate with each other."
There's nothing in the below that conflicts with Iraqi traditions and values. I can't think of any nationality of people that it would conflict with their traditions and values. The founding fathers created a great new experiment when the formed the United States of America. Yet, as great as their work was with the knowledge of their time they did make a few errors. We've gained a lot of valuable knowledge and experience in the previous 200+ years. The following should be a part of Iraq's new constitution.
* The purpose of conscious life is to live happily. * The function of government is to guarantee those conditions that let individuals fulfill their purpose. Those conditions can be guaranteed through a universal constitution that forbids the use of initiatory force, fraud, or coercion by any person or group against any individual. *** Article 1 No person, group of persons, or government shall initiate force, threat of force, or fraud against any individual's self or property. Article 2 Force shall be morally and legally used only in self-defense against those who violate Article 1. Article 3 No exceptions shall exist for Articles 1 and 2. |

Good response... and some fair points made.
I didn't intend to paint all the shiites - or all the sunnis for that matter - with the same brush. I just find it mind boggling how we can expect to deal rationally with a fundamentalist mindset that blames the U.S. no matter what we do. These corrupted muslims cause their own downfall and never see themselves as responsible for their own fate.

Make all the laws match current US federal laws as a start. ah... no. why saddle the poor Iraqis with the scads of erroneous and unconstitutional legislature we have recently accrued? When I said "the original US Constitution" I meant exactly that, for the reason just stated.

Funny, there was a nation that was born from 13 colonies.

Making laws isn't that easy... you've already penned a failure.
Article 1
No person, group of persons, or government shall initiate force, threat of force, or fraud against any individual's self or property.
Article 2
Force shall be morally and legally used only in self-defense against those who violate Article 1.
Article 3
No exceptions shall exist for Articles 1 and 2.
How, then, will law-breakers be arrested? They police can't use force or the threat of force. Many crimes do not involve danger to others, so the self-defense caveat can't be used to stop them. Additionally, no property may be seized by the legal system. How can any court order to recompensate others ever be enforced if the accused is non-compliant?
But it sounds pretty.

RE: "Original Constitution"
The only problem with that is that within 50 years, the 'United States of Mesopotamia' would be the greatest and free-est and wealthiest nation on the planet!
You don't want to create your own successor.
