I think so too, Minty. America needed to be reminded about the heinous act done on our soil. And about how our military is out there right now working to keep it from happening again.

Hundreds of service members and civilian employees listen to country singer Darryl Worley at the Pentagon April 16. U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Amber K. Whittington

Country music star Darryl Worley entertains at the Pentagon April 16. He told the group that what he learned during a USO trip to Afghanistan and the Middle East is that "war is not always about just going and killing the bad guys. A whole lot of what we do as Americans is about going and helping the good guys. ...We saw soldiers in action in Afghanistan carrying water, carrying shovels to dig wells, carrying food to orphanages with rebels coming out of the mountains and firing missiles at them while they're trying to help these children and save lives. There's a lot of that going on in Iraq right now." AFPS photo by Linda D. Kozaryn

I'm nodding out at the keybord. LOL
Bet you are also!
Going to go to bed soon.
Looks like it may be a long slow Easter/Passover weekend.
Have gotten a quite a few e-mails/FReep mails from FReepers getting ready for Sunday.

To our military readers, we reamin steadfast in keeping the Canteen doors open.
The Canteen is Free Republics longest running daily thread specifically designed
to provide entertainment and morale support for the military.
The doors have been open since Oct 7 2001,
the day of the start of the war in Afganistain.

We are indebted to your sacrifices for our Freedom.

Good night and sleep well, Tonkin. God bless you good for your service to our country, both those years ago, and now in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Wow...I take a hiatus and come back to this mess, and I am just sitting here thinking how pathetic it is that such a strong supporter of the canteen has been ignored as a disruptor. Hmmmm. Like deja vu

Yup..... Thank you, Radu, for all the support you have shown the Canteen and the military over these many months.

Jen, Saber, Habs, you nailed it and ..I'm with you. Been there, done that...it's the pits! And Chaplain Grant! Your heart was in the right place and I am sorry that you haven't been shown the respect you so richly deserve. That is true of all who have once again decided to leave this Canteen.

And Linda! And Tonk! Why am I not surprised about this? I remember the attacks on Victoria for posting things that you considered "racy". What a joke! But then, we do reap what we sow. Slither in it.

Sam...sorry you have gone through this yet again. You deserve better. Wanna dance?

Radu, I always liked you and considered you one of the good people at the Canteen and I still do. I understand your decision and fully agree with you.

It's a shame that people who are regulars here and supposedly your friends don't even have the decency to say goodbye to you. But to them, you've 'disrupted' this thread and you 'no longer support the troops' by choosing to leave, and anyway they'd just tell you to move on to another thread and don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out. I guess it sometimes takes situations like this to discover who and what your 'friends' really are.

Hey, li'l buddy, in Philly the nuts are in the bleachers: A squirrel scampers around foul territory during the second inning of the Marlins-Phils game in Veterans Stadium.

Hard-boiled determination: The Easter Bunny can be so mean, hiding eggs just out of reach. Fortunately, 2-year-old Levi Kennamer's arm was long enough to bag the last egg at Learning Center day care in Huntsville, Ala.
