Well, here's hoping that they are among the millions who are NOT affected, in Hong Kong. I WILL keep your mom and her boss in my prayers.

Back with another answer to your question. I worry about SARS infecting the monkeys. I'm not sure we could ever get a handle on it if that happens.
To: per loin
I've read that primates are affected exactly the same way as humans.
To: Judith Anne
Yes. I've not yet checked on the primate population of the planet, but I'd bet that it would be much harder to quarantine them.

Hong Kong is trying to get its figures posted now, but appear to be having a problem doing so.

I haven't followed the SARS threads very closely but saw on another thread that markets and restaurants in Hong Kong,Taiwan, etc. were pretty much closed down.
This will hurt my income and I was wondering if you had heard if the Oriental markets and restaurants in N.Y,Calif.,etc. are being hurt by a fear of SARS?
To: per loin
And "they" said herding cats was hard... Seriously, lab monkeys get SARS just like humans. And from what I've seen and read, monkeys are everywhere people are...
To: Free Trapper
Yes. Chinatowns are hurting all over.
To: Free Trapper
No, I haven't heard, but I wonder...
To: Judith Anne
Yes. And interact with humans. Effective spreaders?
To: Judith Anne
Hong Kong has taken down its figures from yesterday, and instead of posting new ones, they've posted the letter "C".
To: per loin
In biological warfare terms, most likely yes.
Heck, even in emerging plague terms, yes.
To: per loin
Posted the letter "C"? What does that mean?
To: Judith Anne
No idea, but the Chinese have an odd sense of humor. We once bought a toy for one of the kids at Christmas, and it came with batteries! Only problem was, they didn't work. When I replaced them with good ones, I noticed they were from the We Fu Yu Battery Company.
To: Judith Anne
As i suspected a jump in cases. 52 new ones.
To: per loin
LOL!
Anyway, my curiosity is up. I'll be interested in seeing what developes today.
To: Judith Anne
Ooops now it says 22 new cases.
To: Judith Anne
Whoops! Missed the post with the new cases, was replying to the battery post...
This is NOT good news.
To: per loin
Hmmmmm.....
