They have a "culteral victim mentality". The Democrats operate by fostering a "victim mentality" in various groups. Once they get people in a group convinced that they are victims of the evil GOP establishment, members of that group will consistently toe the Democrat party line on any and all issues so as to stand up to "their oppressor".
Republicans need to break the Democrats' constituents' victim mentalities. It's tough, since Democrats are experts at playing victims like violins, but if the Republicans can't start breaking up those blocs it won't be long until the Democrats have enough groups lined up that they no longer need any contested voters to win. Once that happens, the Republic is doomed.

If Republicans can take a firm stance there, they stand to win a great many votes not only from homosexuals, but also from "homosexual sympathizers" who currently vote Democratic to protect the "victim class" of gays.So the desire to win at any price means the Republicans have to become Democrats?

My gay uncle own two firearms, is anti-abortion, and voted for Bush last election, as did his live-in "friend". How many gays do you know to so confidently make that assumption?I suspect your uncle is a minority within a minority. The whole strategy of courting this voting bloc seems pointless to me--they're not 10% of the population like they're fond of claiming, more like 1 to 3%.

Exactly. They want to force us to approve. Obviously, they want dissent of homosexuality to be on par with terms like "nigger." It is NOT the same. If I were black, I would be so insulted.

It will depend ... upon who wins the struggle for the soul of the GOP, social conservatives or "moderate" RINOs. Exactly the struggle the GOP is facing. And social conservatives are losing. Let's face it, George Bush is not our friend. This, the Assault Weapons Ban, and Campaign Finance Reform all point to a "conservatism" that's gone mushy.
