The Dixie Chicks, Emily Robison, left, Natalie Maines, center, and Martie Maguire, say they are posing nude to make a point.
NEW YORK - The Dixie Chicks appear nude on the cover of a weekly showbiz magazine in a defiant answer to a backlash over their opposition to the war in Iraq.

Sorry, I couldn't get the picture to post. (well, maybe not)
Record sales must really be bad for this stunt!

To: martin_fierro
Let's see... stupid comment begets bad advice from promoters on fake "apology," begets this stupid blitz with whining, which begets this extremely ill-advised photo. Looks like they've decided to dump "country" once and for all.

Yes, I know it's been retouched. Why why WHY can't these people keep their damn clothes on to make a point?
To: joy361
They missed "saddams sluts" or "satans sluts"
Leviticus 19:28
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
To: joy361
Why do all their faces look like the were pasted on that picture...
To: joy361
Not about the nakedness but ... clothes getting in the way of labels
I would hope to Hannah something would get in the way. LOL This should remove any doubt any one had about their level of intelligence.
To: joy361
''It's not about the nakedness,'' the Post quotes band member Martie Maguire as saying. ''It's about clothes getting in the way of labels.'' Maybe to them, but to everyone who buys the mag, its about the nakedness. These gals should pool their brain cells to make some better decisions -- they have no idea how desperate and pitiful they are beginning to look.
To: joy361
So, their defense is that they're not really evil, they're just bubbleheaded idiots?
You know what? I'll buy that.
To: joy361
"It's not about the nakedness."
Tacky is as tacky does.
To: joy361; sheltonmac
Sadly I think one of the reasons they did this was to gain back some of the mainstream success they thought they may have lost by one misstatement. And what's ironic is that an act like this will hurt their country appeal. At least it has to me. I don't care so much if they make a political statement, but I may put them in the Shania Twain category instead of serious country artist over this stunt

To: billbears
You are right. That's the thing. This whole mess came out of their intrinsic lack of knowledge about their own fan base; and this is one more of those colossal missteps. imo.

HaHa HaHa. What is it about unattractive women on the left that think there is some benefit to their message resulting from stripping?
This is typical of the left's 40 year out-of-date playbook. But they're victims of their own success. 40 years ago this sort of behavior had the power to shock. Now it just results in yawns and critical discussion of the flesh so presented.
Apparently these women were only playing a game with the country music fans. They share none of their values. They are leftist scum. The truth is out there. Bye-Bye.
Final note: I will never listen to their music, but I must admit I never have listened to it.

Sorry to be dense: when it says "yes, I know it's been retouched" at the bottom of the photo, does it mean it used to spell PEACE and now it's been retouched to spell PIECE, as in piece of ---? LOL. Or maybe these chicks can't spell??? Women like these have a serious problem.

>And this is suppose to help their career?
I think it's standard
maketing-type crap -- use a
big demographic
-- like patriotic
Americans -- to start your
career, then "move on"
to so-called main stream
freak-a-zoid demographics,
which are really big.
My guess is the girls
expect to laugh all the way
to the bank. Who knows?
To: TrebleRebel
''It's not about the nakedness,'' the Post quotes band member Martie Maguire as saying. ''It's about clothes getting in the way of labels.'' Aren't these the same type of folks that claim pornography is demeaning to women and our culture? It must not be about the nakedness....it must be about the clothes getting in the way of a good mental picture.
To: joy361
I've never understood how posing naked is supposed to be some form of protest. It seems like some kind of last refuge to get attention.
To: lainie
To: joy361
Oh yea, this boosts their image as critical thinkers and removes the stigma of Dixie Sluts for sure.

It all relates to Freedom of Speech aka open mouth insert foot, aka Bull sh_t talks and money walks.
I feel that the fans have the freedom to purchase Cd's or to stomp on CD's
That their fans or x-fans, have the freedom to express themselves verbally calling in on local radio, and letting the listening audience know they are embarrased that the Dixie Chicks are U.S. Citizens.
I would suggest if you want to make millions singing, Sing and keep your political opinions to yourself, I have the luxury of stating my political opinion, it does not cost me a dime.

I agree with you. The statement was incredibly stupid, but there is such a thing as a sense of proportion. About the only reason I'm enjoying watching their careers crash is because the big conglomerates are pulling out all the stops in trying to do damage control. I actually kind of feel sorry for the girls. Yeah they're stupid, but I don't see them on the same level as Michael Moore.
Also, my vote on the cover is that the Dixie Chicks still haven't posed nude. I think those are Dixie Chick heads on stunt t!ts. Just my opinion.
To: Kerberos
At this point I'm beginning to think that thier manager has another band in the wings that he thinks is going to be bigger. Could be
Personally I find this cover insulting, they didn't just say they were ashamed of Bush, they were also ashamed of us fans that supported the President and our troops and this cover is only mocking our feelings on the matter.
ALSO .. Maines really needs to get a boob job done
