Problem with goats is that they aren't selective in pruning shubbery. Be careful or you will get not only reduced wildfire danger, but desertification.

I haven't seen that problem with my goats. Yes, they ate all the vines and weeds out in the woods, but they did not eat the roots. The places I haven't let them into this year, have all grown back. It I don't let them in those areas this year, then by fall, you won't be able to tell they had been there at all. Also, they do not destroy the grass because they do not eat it down to the roots.

If you are into landscaping and gardening, goats can be very helpful in their own way. Moose are like that, too, except they can reach even higher and pull upper branches off saplings even 10 feet up and leave the hedgerow looking like the battle for Saddam International Airport. Desertification was an over-statement, but they leave the place looking scraggy.
