the pre-war "non-nein-nyet" alliance against America over Iraq: punish France, ignore Germany and forgive Russia.

Exactly right!

Germany is megalomaniacal and dreaming of goose-stepping glories past. Irrelevancy is well-deserved.
France is the mangy dog which has been rescued from the jaws of totalitarianism twice, and continues to bite his rescuer. Let them rot.

Russia, in alliance with the U.S., can create a force the theat of which can keep even mindless mass murdering cultures contained for generations... or can crush them flat.

A most delicious scenario.

a senior French diplomat responded tartly: "We are not forcing anyone to spend the night in France.
Dear brainless frog: the American tourist has heard your message, loud and clear.

"It amazes me that he doesn't realise the Swiss government was extremely hostile to war. They didn't even allow overflight rights for American planes."
Have you not yet figured out that you're less than irrelevant?
At least the Swiss had the good manners to keep their mouth shut.

As for Nissan, I guess people don't know it's French.

I agree, the cars are really japanese, made in japan, engineered by japanese and some are actually being made in the USA. French owned renault has a huge stake in the company though. I feel a bit of a conflict myself since I am disgusted with the French at this point but I am really tempted by the new Z350.

But I read a couple of articles that French businesses were complaining about business fall off, as a result of the boycott, and they were surprised, they didn't think it would really matter.

True but those are the ones that are obviously French products like wine, cheese, travel to France is down too. These less conspicuous but much bigger ticket items like cars and airplanes do not seem to be hurting at all.
