Welcome to

Today's Spiritual Journey takes us to:

From its early days in 1917 when fighting men were needed during World War I, Fort Jackson has had a proud history of training quality soldiers for America’s Army.

Fort Jackson is the largest and most active Initial Entry Training Center in the United States Army, providing training to almost 50% of the men and women who enter the service each year. While some military installations have experienced downsizing and closure in recent years, Fort Jackson has added several new schools and training institutions including the Soldier Support Institute, the Chaplains Center and School, and Department of Defense Polygraph Institute.

Soldiers, civilians, retirees and family members make up the Fort Jackson community which continues to grow in numbers and facilities.   The installation instructs an average of 35,000 soldiers in basic training and advanced individual training each year. An additional 19,000 attend courses at the Soldier Support Institute, Chaplain Center and School and Drill Sergeant School.  Fort Jackson employs 3900 civilians and provides services for more than 100,000 retirees and their family members.

WHEN GOD CAN'T BE FOUND
By Chaplain (Capt.) Mitch Tulloss
2nd Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment Chaplain
Fort Jackson, SC

The Bible introduces Job as being both spiritually and financially rich. In terms of godliness, he was a role model. He lacked nothing in terms of finances. He had everything going his way. Job was sitting on top of the world.

Everything was going well for Job, but suddenly came the storm. He lost cattle, servants and children. Overnight he was broke and lonely. If that was not enough, Job lost his main supporter 'Äì His wife. When he needed her the most, she lost faith and tried to get Job to curse God and die. To her, Job was better off dead.

In spite of the sudden tribulations, Job felt that he would be all right because he knew God. He knew that when everybody else failed him and let hem down, he could call on God. So Job did just that.

I believe that it was here that Job felt most frustrated and let down. When he needed God the most, he could not seem to find him. Job searched and searched, but could not find God. He did not see Him on the right nor the left. He found him not in front nor behind him.

What do you do when you can't find God?

I believe Job learned three life-changing lessons in his search for an Omnipresent God.

1. Know that God knows where you are. Realize that the most important issue is not you knowing exactly where God is and what He is doing. What is more important is knowing that God knows where you are and what you are going through.

God knows about your pain. He knows about your insecurities and loneliness. He knows about your losses and the emptiness those losses have left. If He knows your problems, surely He knows the answer.

2. Know that God is working on you. Although Job did not fully understand all thing, he did understand his trials as a working process that God would use to make him better. As long as we don't give up, God will use even traumatical experiences to make us richer in faith and in understanding of Him. "So we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience and patience, experience; and experience hope..." (Rm 5:3,4).

3. Know that God will bring you through. Job declared, "I shall come forth as gold." He knew that it would not always be dark. "Weeping may endure for a night. But joy cometh in the morning," says the Psalmist (Ps. 30:5). We must share the confidence of Job in knowing that if God allows us to get into anything, He will surely bring us out of it. When we come out, we won't be the same.

So the next time you face a test, look at it as an opportunity to grow in faith and in the knowledge of your God.

1667 English poet John Milton, 58, sold the copyright to his religious epic "Paradise Lost" for ten English pounds (less than $30).

Today's FEEBLE attempt at humor:

Guy goes to the gates of heaven where he meets St. Peter. St. Peter says
to him "God has looked at your book of life and you are welcome in
heaven under one condition"

The man say "What's that?"

St. Peter says "You must spell the word 'Love'." So he does and he is
let in to heaven.

As he gets in, St. Peter's beeper goes off. He tells the man to watch
the gate until he returns, and reminds him that he must ask whoever
comes to spell the word.

Next thing you know, his wife show up at the gate and he asks her what
she is doing there?

She says that on the way home from the funeral, there was an accident
and she died. The husband says alright, but you do have to spell one
word first before you come in to heaven.

She asks "What's that?"

He says "Spell Czechoslovakia"

Fort Jackson=Home!

My dad was assigned there when I was two, retired there when I was eight, my reserve unit was there, did a lot of ROTC training in the sandy pine woods. I was assigned there from 95-98. Oh how I miss it. The good Lord willing I will retire there.

Tonk, thanks for all you do!

Hello everyone!! Wonderful thread today!

I was trying to visit the National Review Online this morning before I came on here. Seems that some Palestinian sympathizer has hacked into their website. May "DARK HUNTER" go down in flames an onto jail. What a loser.

God, please bring our brave men and women home safely. Please protect them as they are protecting the world. May your eternal hope and light shine on those dark corners that need it. May your eternal peace shine on in those places that desire it. May your eternal blessing shine down on America and her allies. May you allow the FBI to find this Dark Hunter and prosecute him/her without mercy. May this be another highlight to those that are blind to the possibility of Middle East peace.

Alright! Have a great morning everyone!! *HUGS*

This is what it says at NRO:

"Hacked by DarkHunter ... Freedom for palestian and Iraq ... gr33tz to #USG and #teso channels"

One rainy afternoon I was driving along one of the main streets of town, taking those extra precautions necessary when the roads are wet and slick.

Suddenly, my son Matthew spoke up from his relaxed position in the front seat. "Mom, I'm thinking of something." This announcement usually meant he had been pondering some fact for a while, and was now ready to expound all that his seven-year-old mind had discovered. I was eager to hear.

"What are you thinking?" I asked. "The rain;" he began, "is like sin, and the windshield wipers are like God wiping our sins away." After the chill bumps raced up my arms I was able to respond.

"That's really good, Matthew." Then my curiosity broke in. How far would this little boy take this revelation?

So I asked... "Do you notice how the rain keeps on coming? What does that tell you?"

Matthew didn't hesitate one moment with his answer: "We keep on sinning, and God just keeps on forgiving us." I will always remember this whenever I turn my wipers on.
