[history]
The Rev. Jesse Jackson and Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina shared a laugh before her address at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Digital Connection Conference in San Jose.
Speaking at the 4th annual Rainbow/Push Coalition conference today in San Jose, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said there continues to be ``an opportunity deficit'' for minorities in Silicon Valley's tech industry.

Jesse Jackson said there continues to be ``an opportunity deficit'' for minorities in Silicon Valley's tech industry.Where does he get his "numbers" for the "opportunity deficit"? Does he believe that Minorities do not have an opportunity to apply for a job? What is he talking about?

The tech industry is already fostering diversity by moving its factories to China, Singpore, India, Mexico, etc.
To: jrushing
He means all the White Males running Silicon Valley. The irony escapes him the Carly Fiorina happens to be a woman. Liberals are already bring change to America's high tech sector long before Action Shackson crashed the party to get his name back in the headlines.

Jesse's next Promised Land from which he'll sow a windfall. Actually he won't. There are black techs; they as a group can be pretty good, but most of the ones that I've met and work with want to fast track into management.
If they pull their weight, I've got no problems with anyone.
The other thing that Jesse Jackass will lose on is the numbers of Chinese / Indian workers .... anyone can take a look at a tech company and see that they are not racist.
They only discriminate against stupid people.

In today's economy, can the high tech industry afford to be "dumbed down" by Jesse's definition of "diversity"?

Unfortunately, he will. Corporate execs are deathly afraid of looking "not politically correct." Jesse Jackass's tactics of shakedown and extortion are proven moneymakers that have paid him well in the past and will continue to do so. That's why he does it.

Next thing you know he'll be demanding that a statistically representative proportion of all embedded microcode will be written in ebonics.

You know, every time I hear Jackasson's name in the news, I wonder just exactly what good he and his cohorts have done for the black man - or anyone else for that matter.
His existance is a pure waste of human resource.

Ex employees of Hewlett Packard are unrepentant in their dislike of Carly Fiorina. She has, in public statements, allowed her distain of common people, and longs for reinstatemnet of a medieval power structure in the world. She of course would own property, the rest of us would be prisoners of the common. Also,of course, she would be queen and the rest of us would be the serfs.

Let me just say that I work at...ummm...a "very popular software company" in or near Redmond WA.
I was in the office of an aquaintance of mine who also works there within the umbrella of the diversity dept. when NONE OTHER than the uhhhh "Reeeeeeeev-rund" Jesse Jaaaaaaaaaackson called (PERSONALLY) in what was one of many phone calls.
Without saying too much more and getting myself in deep doo-doo, let's just say that my friend was well aware that he was attempting to shake us down. It didn't work. As an American black myself, I CAN'T STAND what Jesse has become.
P.S. NO, I don't work in the diversity dept. and never would. ;)
To: NormsRevenge
The tech company I work for is probably too small to make it onto his radar. But if it ever did, I'd go to jail before caving into a single one of that man's extortions.

You know, every time I hear Jackasson's name in the news, I wonder just exactly what good he and his cohorts have done for the black man - or anyone else for that matter. He has provided himself and his cohorts with permanent employment. By forcing companies and schools to subsidize the number of blacks through preferential policies, he has lowered everyone's expectations of how good blacks need to be to get the job in the big company or get the admission to the big university. Some blacks will expect the preferences to be extendend and will not work as hard to get ahead while whites resent the preferences and suspect it every time a black is chosen over them even when they are more qualified.
Promoting racial preferences (racism) to make up for past racism simply perpetuates the problem.

To: hedgetrimmer
This man is a shuck and jive hustler from the get-go. Why in the hell would Fiorina give this fool five seconds of her time? For the same reason that NASCAR has been secretly donating money to Jackson for a couple of years now. To shut him up and get him off their backs! J.J. started yelping awhile back about the lack of black race car drivers and said that this was just another example of a bunch of southern white males conspiring to keep blacks oppressed and segregated (repeated during the Augusta National/Masters'Tournament/Hootie Johnson flap). It must be a highly effective technique, considering all the money his organization pulls in. But I guess when you've got a set of over active gonads like Jackson, you need all that cash just to pay for all those illigitimate children.
To: NormsRevenge
That's it. No more Hewlett-Packard printers for my company. I've been wondering why their support has nose-dived while expanding the ever-infuriating voice-mail hell.
What supplier is not in thrall to anti-Americanism?
I'll also continue the refurbed toner cartridge solution to minimize their profits.

He's lying. I've worked in the tech industry for over 10 years in Washington and Silicon Valley and ANYBODY who says that minorities are under represented or that there is an "opportunity deficit" is flat-out lying.
This is a JJ shakedown pure and simple.
