Welcome to FreeReepublic first of all...
You wrote: "This is old news, actually.
It first came out one month before he was executed. I believe it was run around the same time they announced boxes had been found that were not presented as evidence."
The Article cited:
"Justice officials said Wednesday the letter was routed to Ashcroft's clerical office in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, where it sat for nearly two months and then was forwarded to the FBI - well after McVeigh was executed."
Boy either you know more information than the Department of Justice or you did not read the article above.

McVeigh was executed before he changed his mind and decided to spill his guts. And if we were still waiting for McVeigh to spill his guts, you'd be arguing that we should continue to keep him alive because he just "might" finally "tell the truth," some day!
You tinfoilers are unbelieveable!

If McVeigh was guilty, why should the FBI have to lie about factual evidence?
For the same reason some of the cops lied in the OJ Simpson case--to make the case stronger. One doesn't have to think OJ was innocent to also think that the cops fudged around with the evidence. The problem in that case was that they were no match for the defense team.

" outside lawyers should have done more than send it by fax and courier"
I have a question-
Assuming that what they said about mishandling the mail is true [snort, giggle, LOL] what are we supposed to think happens when one of our alert citizens notifies the FBI that he sees 20 Islamists, singing Death to America!, dragging bombs down the street?
That his notification ends up in a dead file in the suburbs?

"I agree. McVeigh was executed before he changed his mind and decided to spill his guts."
Are you kidding? He was bound and gagged after the conviction? He had ample opportuinty before he was executed either on his own or via his attorney to speak to the media, public, judge -- anyone about anything.

And a separate issue. If they've committed perjury, charge them. But it does nothing to negate McVeigh's guilt. It's a separate issue indeed! Please see the article at the top of this thread. Is it about whether McVeigh was guilty or not, or is it about government agents giving false testimony at a trial, and failing to inform the defense about it as legally required? Thanks in advance for your reply to this question.

Did you see that other gun go off in the grassy knoll?
Seriesly, McVeigh could not have acted on his own.
We may NEVER know the truth about who else was acting along with McVeigh - but from what I've seen it could have very well be Iraqi agents seeking retribution for Desert Storm on behalf of Saddam Hussein.
McVeigh was seen with Iraqis in Oklahoma City in the days just before the bombing.
Many, many theories, perhaps more info may miraculously surface to the top during our shakedown of Iraq (if Saddam sponsored the bobming).

I don't think there are many people who doubt McVeigh's guilt. I think the real issue is wherher evidence was withheld from the jury that might have led them to make a different decision on whether McVeigh should be executed.
To: sam_paine
Something that shows it was given directly to the people who would have had to act on it comes to mind. A registered letter with signature required, perhaps?

Clinton was in a hurry, and that's a worry. So was the administration succeeding Clinton's.

What was McVeigh, about 2 from arrest to injection?Because he voluntarily waived his appeals.

"There is only one relevant question here - did McVeigh or did he not help blow up the building." He confessed to it in his book...
