Change scares people. It's a human enough trait. The status quo is comfortable and familiar.

There was an interesting picture of Rumsfeld on the front of the New York Times yesterday showing him inside a huge Pentagon plane on the way to Iraq. I'm not sure if it was by an NYT photographer or released by the Pentagon. I'd like to know if it exists online anywhere. I was kind of curious about the plane too.

ROFL! That's great!

I'll bet that Hanson wishes he could retract this one.

Hanson writes extremely sloppy history. I spent a happy afternoon with two other history buffs playing a round of "For the People," a strategy-level Civil War game, and spent most of the time further ripping the logic holes and inaccurate factuals in his books. It's a lot of fun if one is into such things.
Although Rumsfeld is not supremely effective at his job, at least he's a veteran, and not another lawyer. I'll give him that much.
