Being a lurker more then a poster, it's easier, not being personally involved, to evaluate various members from what they write. Over time some have come across to me as seriously deranged. When later I don't see their names I assume they moved on whether voluntarily or not. Sometimes, when lurking at other sites which have no boundaries of taste and reason and decency, these people show up again and what they write confirms my observations. Many sociopaths and psychopaths who all have underlying themes and one is that they hate the American government which to me means they hate America and our people.

I went there and this is a riot. It describes the anti-Freep sites that they link to (except, interestingly, DU) but there are two lessons here:

1. the hard-core anti-Freepers can't play well with others and keep splintering,
2. the most active area of discussion is how much they hate FR and how wronged they were,
3. yes, in fact they do fly in and try to disrupt FR.

A) mostly cat-owners, mostly dog-owners, or an even number of both, and

B) mostly Mac-users, mostly PC-users, or an even number of both.

It's an error to think that these anti-freeper sites are liberal, leftist or Democrat oriented. Their collective posters and repliers consist mainly of bitter and revengeful FR bannees, the usual anarchist and anti-government crowd, dope-lovers and failed third-partyites mixed in with a sprinkling of filthy-mouthed aimless, rootless riff-raff with no ideology or moral base and are just there for sick entertainment.

The ironic part is that many banned freepers eagerly signed on to these sites only to find that they get regularly trashed and insulted right along with everyone else. Bashing each other, not politics or principles, is a blood sport on these sites.

These insignificant anti-everything sites pop up regularly and then fail miserably. Their forums try to copy FR, but there's little to no replies posted under their articles. Their "chat room" contributors are mainly into bashing anything and everything, including each other.

Then the disillusioned participants (all of whom you can fit into a phone booth) move on to another similar new anti-site, hoping to find nirvanah or another Free Republic-type operation, but always come up disappointed and empty-handed.

Free Republic endures.

Not to speak to any particular case, because if you learn one thing about bannings/suspensions/voluntary exits it's that you don't know the whole story.

But usually, it begins with anger. Then there's anger that everybody doesn't agree with your anger. Then you start disagreeing with everybody on everything. You get shrill and disruptive and if you don't do something that earns the wrath of the mods immediately (cursing, etc.), you end up destroying debate and discussion.

What I find bizarre is that people can't understand with all the sleeper accounts and valid disruptions of the site as well as the WP/LAT law suit that JimRob has to be cautious. And sometimes that means legitimate threads get pulled and people get suspended for nitpicky reasons, but if you are well-behaved, you will always be allowed back.

Anti-Freepers are a strange group in my opinion. They get banned and then spend years bashing the site instead of moving on and doing something worth their while. Its a sickness much like mental illness. Now if they went and proved that they were right that would be different. But they don't and what they prove is they are nothing but whiners and weepers.

I have not been here that long. In the long run, if you are not mean, or abusive most posts seem to be welcome here. We all like good debate, personal insults are not debate. Facts backed up with references are. Maybe I am not here enough (my kids will tell you otherwise) but I have yet to see something zotted that I disagree with.
No matter what, FR is the best news source on the web. If you don't want to read the comments, thats fine. However, comments or not, one can find any information needed here.

Trust me, nobody's being undermined. And don't get me wrong. If people feel comfortable somewhere else because they don't like FR, that's great. For example, the most active "anti-FReep" site is the first one. I won't mention it, but it's far more tightly controlled than FR and it doesn't endure any catty postings about FR. So, it's no longer anti-FReep, anyway. The rest are pretty much commisseration chat rooms for discontented FReepers.
