MY KID'S TEACHER
My Kid's Teacher | May 4, 2003 | Luis Gonzalez

Posted on 05/04/2003 7:49:47 PM PDT by Luis Gonzalez

Just before going to bed tonight, as I kissed my oldest boy good night, he perked up and reminded me of the note his teacher had sent home on Friday. I assured him that I would read it, and tucked him in.

I knew that the note was about the upcoming School Book Fair, he attended his first one last year, and it was a great experience for him. It was the first time he was trusted with money to spend all on his own.

He is a First grader with Third Grade reading skills, I was an avid reader as a kid, and every time I see him sitting with a book on his lap, I feel like I'm walking on air.

I went downstairs and looked for the note, I wanted to see what was expected of him, and how payment for the books would be handled.

I have copied the note word by word below, the note written, and sent home, by the person who is teaching my boy to read and write.

I have left the particulars out for obvious reasons.

I am sending the note to Tallahassee, and asking for this teacher's removal.

Dear Parents,

May #th, at #:##-#:## is our class day and time to go to the Book Fair on the Media center. If can volunteer to help our class shop that day, it would be greatly appreciated. Please write me a note letting me know whether you will be there to help out.

Our class has ran out of tissue boxes, if possible, please send a box to our class. The colds, coughing, is ongoing in the classroom.

Thanks for all your help and cooperation.

Your Child's Teacher Mrs. #####

This is brilliant, just brilliant. How typical.

Not that I think all teachers are idiots, far from it. There's always a bad one somewhere along the way. This is why public school teachers have a bad name.

Probably the most frightening thing I've read in some time.

I already had a problem with this teacher.

Earlier this year, my son came home and asked for my help with his first school project.

He was to make a figurine of a Black American Hero.

My first suggestion was Green Lantern, but my wife objected.

I asked him whether his teacher had given any suggestions.

Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X.

He turned in a great figurine of Condi Rice.

Your child may be reading at the third-grade level, but the REAL question is....

What GRADE is the teacher reading at?!!!!!!!!

Its a Hobson's choice. I would rather have a patriotic American teaching my children than a communist with good grammar. I can tutor grammar, I can't erase communist propaganda from a child's head.

I skipped right over the errata the first time I read it, but... damn, that is pretty messed up.
