Although I support the reigning Queen, the British monarchy isn't the sort of monarchy I'm talking about. When I say I am a monarchist I mean that I support a sacramental, feudal, absolute monarchy, not a parliamentary monarchy with a figurehead Crown.

I believe it was Alexander Hamilton.

Good God woman; where the BARF ALERT before the pic?! You just ruined my lunch.

The British monarchy is in a grave crisis. It is held together largely by the
gravitas of the present monarch. The next generation of royals seem to be dissolute souls with no moral, spiritual or intellectual compass. William's father, Prince Charles is a well-meaning but hopelessly confused amalgam of New Age and secular humanist ideas.
I don't see a bright future for the British monarchy. I see William's expressed desire (if acurately reported) to be an attempt to live some semblance of a "normal" life away from the protocol and formality expected of an heir to throne. This is extremely dangerous. Once experienced, it will become most difficult for him to abandon it for the regimentation that is a monarch's life. It tells me that he is not fond of the royal court nor its denizens.
On the contrary. He's inherited his mother's independence and probably some of her rebelious nature and who knows what he truly thinks of the way the Windors treated her and the extent to which this contributed to her untimely death.
I doubt that he'll ever be king.

They draw tourists. If that allure goes, their economy takes a big hit. So I think they'll keep them on.

Windors..... Make that Windsors. My apologies, Your Majesty.

That is the most flattering picture I have ever seen of Chelsea. She actually looks just sort of plain rather than her usual hideously ugly.

The British monarchy, while certainly troubled, is not quite as endangered as its opponents would like it to be. The media likes to imagine that the institution's popularity declines sharply at every "scandal," when in fact, the proportion of British people wanting a republic has never budged much beyond one fifth of the population. Barring tragedy, Prince Charles
will be king, and Prince William
will be king after him. Prince William's desire to live a "normal" life while he is second in line in no way precludes his eventual succession to the throne.
On Prince Charles, see these two excellent columns by Magnus Linklater and former Conservative Prime Minister John Major.

I own the VHS, DVD, PC game and the book with the movie script. I love Monty Python and thanks for posting one of my favorite parts of the movie.

Whoops you must have slipped and hit your head.
Its not like renting and owning. Cause I have seen owners that trash thier yard cause its thiers, and renters knowing its not thier takes great care.
Its about responsibility. If people believe that a person going for office has common beliefs, he will win.
It also is good to have change. Change is the American ambition. If something is broke fix it, if something is not broke someone will find a better and improved use. This is our government in the idealist way of thinking.
One thing that needs to be addressed is the uneducated public that has no concern or care for polotics.

I wish that arts organizations could support themselves via the free market, but it's not happening, because most Americans aren't interested. That's why the government has to pitch in.Well in a free market they should change to secure thier livelyhood. I would think they dont need the government. If they dont make it on thier own someone else will get the hall and perform. People will come to shows that they like.

That's not Chelsea Clinton! I don't know who it is, but it must be an impersonator.

I thought so, that photo's from a celebrity look-alike website!
You fooled me there for a minute, I thought the girl had had a ton of plastic surgery recently!

Wills and Kate.

For me conservatism is primarily about tradition and culture and only secondarily about limited government and free markets. If constitutionalism and capitalism can serve the interests of the preservation of Western culture, fine, but if most Americans are too unsophisticated to understand that Beethoven is superior to Britney Spears, I think government has the obligation to ensure that the arts survive anyway. What good is conservatism if you don't actually conserve anything?

That scene decribes a monarchy perfectly.
It makes no sense to install a leader based on birth than it does by a watery tart throwing a scimitar at someone.
