Eighty seven percent of a child's time is spent at home, and thirteen percent is spent in school. Church represents one percent inserted amongst the two. Guess what has greater influence on a child's value and moral character - HOME. School plays a role in advocating values, but a strong home and parent can negate those values. Asian Americans immigrants live in cities, and most attend public schools who advocate liberal values. When these kids go home they are re-educated to traditional values by their parents. Many grow up, have a good work, and educational ethos, and above all maintain a conservative family oriented value system. Many problems can be blamed on public education, but parents or the lack of parenting plays a major part.

What you say may be true as far as it goes, but it distracts from an important point. Government schools are harmful to students and to society. Perhaps they are not the most harmful element -- perhaps dysfuntional families win that prize. But the fact remains that schools ought to have a net beneficial effect on students and society. Government schools cause damage.
