Can you imagine one of those kids coming across an original unedited edition of O'Henry. It would fry their hair.

Are you suggesting that there is no way a creationist called and complained about dinosaurs being taught in their kid's school? But everything else about the article is true?

Come on.

Ask and ye shall recieve.

I wanted a thread about recapturing the language and the introduction of words and phrases to label thoughts and actions of Rats in a derogatory manner.

The American vocabulary desperately needs a word to tag the class warfare endlessly promoted by the leftists. The word "Classists" doesn't have the right ring. "Wealthaphobe" is getting there.......

The text book writers want to appear unbiased. And they are not. They appear nuetral by suggesting that they're being imposed on by both right and left. Did a "creationist" call and complain. Maybe. But who cares? The point is that the textbook authors have assumed a "politically correct" (left wing) mode in which they would rather remove material than risk offending anyone. Why? Because they intend to dilute our children's text books. This approach is antithetical to education. It is wrong.

Of course, Dinosaurs existed. Our museums are full of an impressive record of fossils. You'd think the educators could stand up to these fringe concerns, which deny reason. Would they put dinosaurs back in becuase it offends me that they took them out? No. Because they're biased toward the removal of information. Why? It suits their left wing purpose.

I agree with everything you said. It's my understanding that the textbooks were modified in response to outside pressure from various groups, and they were not simply removing everything. So if creationists did press for the removal of dinos, that is just as bad as removing "owl" or whatever the un-pc word is.

However, if the text manufacturers are simply removing everything on their own volition and passing it off as outside pressure to appear neutral, that is a different story. I doubt this is the case, though.

Agreed. It's just as bad to remove facts from the textbooks for whatever reason. If there is "pressure" to "modify" textbooks, why not introduce two competing theories. Explain both sides. Allow the children to decide. And thus, stimulate their capacity for critical thought. That would be education. If there was grounds for modification, why not explain to the children why people disagree?

Unless, you didn't want the students to decide for themselves.

But why would anyone want that?
