A 1/8" thick metal container is far more likely to rupture than one that's 3" thick.

Besides, I like the idea of a natural gas powered vehicle. At least they have a prayer of going 0-60 in under 10 seconds, unlike most of the alternatives.

This is the Fort St. Vrain reactor. One thing to watch on this design is helium embrittlement of metals - this is completely outside of radiological effects on metals. Helium embrittlement was one of the shortfalls of Fort St. Vrain. This is somewhat similar to hydrogen embrittlement, which I have run into in some older reformer units in refineries. Alloys resistant to helium embrittlement have been found, partly driven by helium cooled fission power reactor designs, also partly driven by fusion research.

Not only does H2 (hydrogen) require a lot of energy to produce, collect, and store, it presents rather nasty safety problems."

Need it be said he thinks that Ethanol (made from corn!) is another bad idea the environmentalists have foisted on us?

These two lines say it all.

VW Tdi, not generic diesel. Loads of exhaust scrubbers compared to other diesels. Diesels are plentiful in Europe where the greens rule.
