GOP Will Let Gun Ban Expire
Washington Post ^ | May 14, 2003 | Jim VandeHei
Maybe the AWB will sunset, but I always fear some (real or bogus) mega Columbine will come along at the perfect moment to stampede our congress critters into signing it again.
Assault Weapons Is a Redundant Term ^ | 14 May 2003 | Doc Farmer
Unfortunately the article will fall on deaf ears of typical suburban soccer moms and dads. They do not believe people should own guns or attempt to defend themselves...
Aiming for gun safety: Women learn to feel at home on the shooting range
The Daily News of Los Angeles | May 11, 2003 | Greg Botonis
I took lessons to learn to trap shoot. Then decided I should learn how to shoot a handgun. I took handgun lessons taught by a former San Diego policeman. The classes were invaluable. Intimidation gone.
Anti-Gun Propaganda at Univ. of Michigan's Website
University of Michigan Health System ^ | unknow nKyla Boyse, R.N. Reviewed by Richard Solomon, M.D., Barbara Felt, M.D., Sheila Gahagan, M.D.
The "extended" assault weapons ban would ban TONS of guns, including ALL semi-automatic shotguns, ALL shotguns that hold < 5 rounds, M1 Garand, Mini-14, ALL semi-autos that can have > 10 rounds with or without fixed magazine.
Why do the lefties hate NRA? Simple, the gun is the only thing keeping the socialists from controlling the masses. Next question?
What part of "shall not be infringed" do these lunatics not understand?
This isn't a "re-authorization," it's a radical expansion.
...especially that Att General provision that can literally ban all guns.
The gun control debate
Washington Times ^ | Tuesday, May 13, 2003 | John R. Lott Jr.
Maryland has some of the tightest gun control laws in the country but Baltimore is the murder capital of the USA. Wonder why? well, for starters, hardly anyone has guns but the criminals.
The best questions to be asking are: "Who is paying Ricker to change his story? Is it Handgun Control, aka the Brady Center? Is it the Violence Policy Center? Is it the Democrat Nazi Committee? Are they offering him financial reward for perjury? Are they suborning perjury?
Names of the Perps:
Police 'opposed to carrying guns'
BBC ^ | Monday, 12 May, 2003
See how brainwashing works? Quite effective, isn't it?
Can you say "reloads"? Good, I knew you could.
State Court To Rule On Guns In Cabs [News From Connecticut] ^ | May 9th 2003 | William Kaempffer
I know this sounds cold. But this gun-hating leftist needs to be carjacked so that he will be shocked back to reality.
...means the Dems are smart enough not to reveal their intentions concerning gun control until after they're elected.
This is another feel good do nothing regulation that will only be heaped upon the peaceful citizen.
Funny how the "facts" keep changing- first a machine gun, then a high powered rifle, now this:
"He had a Cobray pistol, a Ruger pistol and 11 ammunition clips..."
"Gun Free Zones" are known to gun owner rights advocates as Criminal Empowerment zones or CEZ's.
This article explains the correllation between a weakening of the 2nd Amendment and the increase in violence.
Why Gun Control Legislation Affects National Security
Self- Vanity Post | 5/9/03 | Judicial Meanz
"The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed-where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once."
"If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention,"

...Don't think about that assertion too much; it might cause your head to explode...
The major mainscream media are finally catching on to what's happening to this bill. It's finally dawning on them that President Dubya said he would sign a bill that has no chance of clearing Congress - and the trap they THOUGHT had been laid for him politically is really a non-issue. The media hate it when Dubya outsmarts them...again.
Got a call from the RNC, gal trying to read off a spiel about "We must support the president.....".
A clear effort to raise campaign cash for either the party or the candidate, I did not learn which.
I cut her off and explained that my support is dependent on the AW & Hi-cap Mag bans dying.
We need so bad to get this stupid gun law off the books...
If this passes I don't know what I will do in the next election I will have to think hard about how I vote.
More here:
A police officer's job is to enforce the law and help to keep the general peace of a community. It is not their job to randomly search cars to look for whatever they want.
Bush in Tight Spot With N.R.A. Over Gun Legislation
The New York Times ^ | 05/08/03 | ERIC LICHTBLAU
The Democrats have vowed to literally shut down the Senate and bottle up ALL legislation for the rest of the Congressional term.
Supporting gun control makes you lose elections. Opposing it makes you win.
Too bad no one put it point blank to the NAACP during the trial: "Yes or no. Would it be in your interest for us manufacturers to stop selling guns to dealers that sell to black people? Yes or no."
Ballistic imaging: Not ready for prime time
Washington Times ^ | Wednesday, May 7, 2003 | H. Sterling Burnett
A nice crisp, clean, forthright damning of the ballistics fingerprints idea-- it -- ballistic fingerprinting -- has never passed the smell test for me.

Government lawyers say burglars 'need protection' [in Britain]

...there will be a mass exodus. Currently they're busy attacking businesses large and small, not just firearms.
...they have changed the bill so that it is a "fee" instead of a tax so it will only take a majority vote to pass.
One lady, in her article posted here on FR, said that many of her left-wing former friends literally have a bottle of champagne set away and are just waiting for Reagan to die so they can open it. They're sick, sick people. Morford is saying this #&$* in part because he believes it and in part to get attention.
Democrats Link Gun Rights to Terrorism | Thursday, May 1, 2003 | Jeff Johnson,
The problem with relying on the stupidity and ignorance of your base voters is that you have to come with laws that appeal to both factions: the ignorant and the stupid. many terrorist attacks, in the USA, have used 'weapons' (i.e. guns)?
Wouldn't this woman be happier in East Germany, if it still existed? Perhaps one of the Arab countries.
Well, the question is not posed correctly. It should be. "Could I legally own a gun?" From what I've been hearing getting a gun is not all that difficult.

Keep assault-weapon controls [Barf!]
Denver Post ^ | Tuesday, April 29, 2003 - 12:00:00 AM MST | DP Editorial Board
An assault-weapons ban is not an attack on the right to bear arms.
Yet another liberal idiot who doesn't understand the plain meaning of "shall not be infringed. It doesn't say "removed" or "violated" it says "infringed".
People can argue any way they want about guns, pro or con. If some people wish to be victims, then that is their right, but they have no right to demand that all of us dictate that our lives are subject to the whims of criminals...I urge everyone here to read Jeff's Snyder's excellent book "Nation of Cowards". This collection of essays goes far deeper than the mere "right to own guns", and cuts to the ethical quick of the ideas and philosophies that underly all of our inalienable rights...or CLICK HERE to purchase this excellent treatise.
...the AW ban is just "feel good" legislation, with no evidence that it has stopped even one murder or stopped one rampage...
Women With Guns Fight Back

Raise the fundamental moral issue of self-defense - a concept that they are completely unwilling to face. I expose their cowardice and moral bankruptcy for what it is.

Uzis in Ardmore if Tom had his way (mega-barf alert)
Houston Comical ^ | 3/18 | the vile Cragg Hines
Everything on their editorial page is hard left, but it also extends blatantly into their news coverage without shame or guilt. A few months ago they accidentally posted an internal memo on their website from one of the chiefs of the editorial staff. It gave lengthy and detailed directions to writers on slanting both editorial and news coverage in favor of an upcoming referendum. Included in the memo were the details on conducting a smear campaign against Tom DeLay. It appeared online for less than an hour, but fortunately got copied before they took it down.
