The Democrats who fled out of state rather than conduct the people's business in Austin are said to be returning tomorrow. We need to deny their supporters exclusive access to the House gallery.
Everyone who can is encouraged to be at the capitol by 8:00am to grab a seat. If you need a ride, please let me know and I will see what I can do. Please forward this to your Republican friends who may be in the Austin area, or who could arrange to be in the area tomorrow.
Thanks, Bill Fairbrother

I won't go alone. But our County Chairman is one of my best friends, and she is the one who sent me the notice. If she goes, and some others go with us, I WILL go.

What time does the session start? When are the press likely to get there?
Is it worth showing up early to protest outside? If so, is anyone else interested?

I am not from Texas, but, no matter. The Democrats behavior is disgraceful on a national level. What an example to set for our children! If you're not winning a game or are bypassed for a promotion at work, should one just walk off the field or refuse to go to work until granted the promotion. We know what would happen in the real world....forfeit of the game and FIRED! That's what should happen to these legislators..the citizens of Texas should explore the legal possibility of docking the pay for the number of days they remained off the job and/or fines. I pray the people of Texas will also remember the names of these immature people if they ever attempt to run for re-election.

Next time the House convenes, and a dim-o-crat rose to speak, I would say:

If I were you, I'd be there at midnight tonight. The RATS are all about putting on shows over serving the public, and will go out of their way to ensure they're there first.

House adjourns, killing controversial redistricting plan
When will redistricting occur? When will some sort of punishment be meted out to the RATS, either by the voting public or the GOP legislators? I have yet to see a single sign of ANY action being taken.
Sorry, Texas Freepers, but I have to say I think y'all blew this one big time.

Please email Gov Perry and your representatives to call a special session for redisticting.
Here is mine.
Please call a special session for redistricting. To do otherwise is to deny fair representation for voters. It would also allow minority rule to take place. I am sickened by the cry baby tactics of the democrats - running off to OK instead of doing their jobs. Now please do yours. Stand up to the democrats, and Stand up for majority rule and Texas! I would also like to know just how much these cowards have cost the taxpayers of Texas by their failure to do what they were elected to do.

Can a Texas citizen file a federal lawsuit stating that the Dems actions (or inactions) on redistricting have violated your rights under Equal Protection clause in the US Constitution?

Can a Texas citizen file a federal lawsuit stating that the Dems actions (or inactions) on redistricting have violated your rights under Equal Protection clause in the US Constitution? There is no cause of action for legislative action or inaction. That would cause separation of powers problem with the courts telling the legislators what they should have done. However, if someone can show that the current system creats an equal protection problem, then they of course have a federal cause of action. I would rather not get the courts involved at this time, though. That would lock up redistricting until 2010.

Perry may call another Special Session but the Dems will just walk out again and run to Oklahoma. Word in Texas is that the Republicans got the Department of Homeland Security to track Pete Laney's plane as it flew to Oklahoma. Is thta the coolest thing you have ever heard or what? It's technically true, but only barely so. The enlisted agency has been around for decades; it just happened to get sucked up into the DHS during the reorg.
So, of course, the RATS are now going around spinning that "The Republicans are using The Deparment of Homeland Security to spy on US citizens!" Their evil knows no boundaries.

That would lock up redistricting until 2010. There is a higher principle than redistricting involved here. Something should be done so this can't happen again anywhere in this country.

I think when Perry calls the special session in June, the dems won't matter, they will vote with or without them. The dems know they lost on this one, they just wanted to cause a big stink. And they did, they STINK!

I just got back from the Capitol where the demobrats were holding a rally on the south steps welcoming back the obstructors of the democratic process. I had my sign with me so I decided to stay outside. They were organized and probably had close to 100 sympathisers. I got lots of sneers as they read my sign,
DERELICT DEMOCRATS RUNNING FROM THE LAW
MEANS NO ONE'S REPRESENTED IN TEXAS NOW AT ALL
WASTING TEXAS DOLLARS AND ACTING LIKE SOME BRATS
OBSTRUCTION IS THE MIDDLE NAME OF ALL THESE DEMOCRATS
Hopefully there were others who showed up inside for the House session.
