The killing was not only senseless, but quite savage. Peterson, assuming he's guilty could very well have been on drugs at the time, then cleaned it up afterwards. If not, then this was no crime of passion, but the work of a psycho who got pleasure out his crime.

Goold, chief deputy district attorney in Stanislaus, said he would send the reports to defense attorneys. Asked if medical examiners had gotten answers to the main questions in the case, Lee said, "In a very general sense, the answer is yes."

Thanks for the ping, and good morning rb.

Good morning...my thoughts on the 'revelations' of yesterday. Geragos is totally without conscience. He will do/say anything to defend his client. He makes Johnny Cochran look like the next Justice of the Supreme Court. Why? Because last night, Jerry Rivers (aka, Geraldo) on Hannity and Colmes breathlessly repeated the 'leaks' from the defense team. Even the FR like hypothetical questions Jerry posed were answered in the most favorable light to Scaughty. Dr. Bodnar started to explain about the water, propellers, rocks, etc., but was pretty much cut off so that Jerry could 'report' his exclusive. My opinion, the Helter/Skelter, some Manson like cult or devotee, did it defense took shape last night with the help of Fox News. Honest. The glove didn't fit...so you must acquit...will be, 'the blood ain't there (the house/boat/truck) so Scaughty must breath free air.'

Ok...my rant for the a.m. is done...

Judge seals autopsy report on Peterson and unborn son

By JOHN COTÉ
BEE STAFF WRITER

Published: May 16, 2003, 06:16:50 AM PDT

At the request of prosecutors and defense attorneys, a judge sealed the completed autopsy reports for Laci Peterson and her unborn son Thursday.

"What we're trying to do is protect the defendant's right to a fair trial," Chief Deputy District Attorney John Goold said. "That's our major concern, the case itself. Nobody wants to see this stuff splashed across the Internet."

Court documents filed Thursday indicated that neither side had received the reports.

A statement from the Contra Costa County coroner's office said the reports would be delivered to the Stanislaus County district attorney's office within the "next few days."

The reports were completed earlier than expected, and Contra Costa officials were preparing to release them Thursday afternoon, Stanislaus County prosecutors said.

Prosecutors requested that the coroner withhold the documents until "further investigation" could be completed, Stanislaus County Superior Court documents show.

"We don't have a legal right to withhold these documents without a court order," said Jimmy Lee, a spokesman for the Contra Costa Sheriff's Department. "We have to follow the law."

Thursday morning, Judge Al Girolami ordered the reports conditionally sealed, pending a May 27 hearing on the matter. He also directed the coroner's office to provide the report to prosecutors, who would give a copy to the defense.

Girolami also ordered the remains held at the Contra Costa coroner's office until further notice.

Papers' challenge to be heard

"May 16, 2003 -- Laci Peterson was savagely carved up, her killer cutting off her head and removing internal body parts, a chilling new report said yesterday. "

Sadistic sex gone awry. Watch out for LIBERALtarians to come running to Scott's defense.
<pSeriously, I believe it was Scott. Of course I don't have all the facts but I'm just connecting the dots. If he is proven to be the one, has has EARNED captial punishment and should have NO choice on how it is done. Laci nor Conner didn't have a choice on death either.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20030516/ap_on_re_us/brf_condit_libel_suit_1

FRESNO, Calif. - A $10 million libel suit filed by former Rep. Gary Condit (news, bio, voting record)'s wife against a supermarket tabloid is headed to court after lawyers failed to reach a settlement Thursday, the woman's attorney said.

Carolyn Condit sued the National Enquirer last year after it published headlines on its Web site and its Aug. 7, 2001, front page that said: "Cops: Condit's Wife Attacked Chandra."

Actually, killers who "overkill" their victim generally know their victim quite well. All the anger they've been harboring against this person explodes in the killing. IF what the defense is claiming is true, I don't think Scott needed to be on drugs to do it. He had plenty of anger and resentment to fuel him.

Someone on another forum reported seeing Ted Rowlands report this morning saying that head, hands and feet were gone.

Also, said that there were "hundreds" of people who said they saw Scott that morning ... including one man who saw him at the marina at about 6:30 and watched him with binoculars. Saw him towing something ... or something floating by the boat (Laci?).

I caught Geraldo on Hannity and Colmes and had the same reaction you did.

I caught a rerun of Catherine Crier's show from yesterday. Rita Cosby and Ted Rowlands were on. Both agreed that there were several witnesses who placed Snott at the marina twice on Dec. 24.

Both agreed that Amber had sent the note in the book warning Snott of phone taps and that this could have caused LE and the DA to be suspicicous of her.

Rita said that Amber was the catalyst--the motive for the murder.

Rita and Ted both said that Laci *knew* about the boat and had seen it at least once in the warehouse and may have even sat in the boat. I didn't hear either give a source of any type for this information.

"Meanwhile, a reliable source has told KTVU Channel 2 that Peterson's remains were missing her head, hands, feet and some internal organs when recovered. However, the source would not speculate on whether the missing parts were the result of the natural decay of the body or from dismemberment.

There was a broadcast report circulating Friday Laci Peterson's may have fallen victim to a satanic cult.

Speaking On Friday's Mornings On 2, Benny Del Re -- the head of the Santa Clara County Crime Lab -- downplayed the report, saying such a conclusion would be extremely difficult without intricate knowledge of the autopsy report.

And there ya go, MG spinning twisted sisters stuff.... ;o)

Very possible. Almost every story I've seen on Peterson said he was usually calm and collected, rarely lost his temper, which is why I suggested maybe he was on drugs.

But there's also the factor of someone who never releases emotion, then all of a sudden it comes out in a huge fit of rage. Either way, given the nature of the crime Peterson can't claim it was a crime of passion should he decide to plea, it's death penalty or life all the way.

thanks for the ping rb........found a little tid-bit last night on this jack the ripper cult type killing perposed by the defense. It can be determined by science if the victom was alive or dead when body parts were removed, if limbs fell off do to trama or from natural causes.

Perimortem Trauma
Five characteristics:
- Sharp edges (fragment edges & fracture lines
- Hinging - bone bent away from blow
- Formation of fracture lines
- Shape of broken ends - angled with jagged surfaces
- Sometimes staining from hematoma

Postmortem Trauma:
Though not related to death, it must be distinguished
Usually related to recovery & transport.

Postmortem Trauma Characteristics:
. Breaks rarely exhibit radiating fracture lines
. Tends to snap - no green stick or hinge fractures
. Long bones tend to break at right angles to long axis
. Color of break is different from other bone surfaces
