As a black man that serve in the military I am appalled at the behavior of the leadership at that High School in particular and "black leadership" in general. It is like we have time warped backwards into an alternate reality. I have always believed that if you work hard and play by the rules and set some goals. You will be sucessful. At the risk of sounding condecending I attribute my sucess from doing what other white people do. That may sound trite and silly but when I was growing up other than my father the only other black role models were radicals and I couldn't Identify with Muhammad Ali, H Rap Brown or Stokley Carmicheal.
I was in the public schools in Chicago at that time and my education was being taught to me by white men and women. I didn't care because they had the knowledge and I was a sponge. We black people need to stop worrying about De White Man and start worrying about getting some education in our thick skulls. I have learned in my world travel that there is no place on earth like America. Those people with mush in their skulls that want to segregate themselves should migrate back to the motherland (Africa). Instead of being a blight on the moral and ethical consciouness in this country.
It is easy to be a victim but hard as hell to be the victor.
To the victor goes the spoils but without hard and dedicated work there is no victory.
