Bob Grant is the maker and the King of Talk Radio. I remember way back when Carl Limbacher used to call up as Carl from Oyster Bay. There was another guy who I used to love hearing and he went by Frank from Queens. His calls were so monumental. I have not heard him in a long time. Jimmy from Brooklyn is also a great caller. It is too bad though, that Bob went to WOR because unless I am in my car, he does not come in very clear. Bob Grant is also very intellectual and knows tons of history.

How OLD is this guy now? When I was a young girl, living at home, Bob Grant was ALWAYS on the radio. My parents loved him. He was very rude. But back then it was so different. He cleared the way for Rush.

Christie Whittman benefitted directly from Bob Grant and was elected Gov. of NJ with his help and then turned around and spit on him.

I am really bummed that Bill OREilly stole some of his air time in the NY market, (today I had Bill on in my car for about 7 minutes and turned it off.) Everytime I check out O'Reilly's radio show, he has liberal Leese Wheel on as a co-host), and she usually doesn't speak much. (Just giggles) He talks about social issues and will sometimes take the liberal viewpoint. He also likes to trash Jeb Bush. Evidently he's not doing well in NY against Hannity.

"Ummm...were you posting in a open forum? Once again a FReeper reveals how to make an uninformed post (your nonsense about Bob Grant), and then not be able to back it up."Hehehe...
Pssst, Carol....
Please note Free Republic has a feature called -- curiously enough, 'Private Reply'.

"Bob Grant is probably the #1 reason that Mario Cuomo lost his Governors seat.
I thought it was Howard Stern!"
I think you're actually both wrong. Nothing was more influential than the NY Post, constantly bombarding Cuomo and praising Pataki in the editorial pages. That, and Damato's strong support put him over the top (and of course, the lousy economy in NY, thanks to Cuomo).

"Grant is nothing but ego...Michael Savage is the closest thing on radio to a Grant knock-off."You can now add Joe Scarborough to the mix...
So what? These are guys who happen to be go-for-the-throat emphatic and convicted in their UN-PC opinions without regard to the which way the winds of political correctness are blowing. I happen to find this style different, absolutely refreshing -- yet effective.
Sometimes a canon is needed instead of a .22 with a silencer to make a point.

John from Staten Island.....or Frank from Queens?I heard that these 2 have a shortwave radio show that can be heard on the internet.
I wish that Frank from Queens' calls were put on a CD and made available for purchase.
Bob Grant is the most informed of the radio talk show bunch, IMHO.

Grant is nothing but ego. He modeled himself after Alan Burke and Joe Pine but he gives them no credit. Hannity certainly never modeled himself after Grant and Limbaugh simply came along and blew Grant out of the water without so much as trying. Michael Savage is the closest thing on radio to a Grant knock-off. Savage is NOT always on the mark and where as BG had a good grasp of his facts!
BTW BG always gave respect and Credit to Joe Pine!
Hannity in his over night gig use to say in his promos "If you love Bob Grant you will love me! Some thing like that it was years ago.
The point is that BG was his mentor.
It was Brien Whitman who did the stick imatating BG voice "I got to get out of here!", & "I dispised Hannity!"

Hannity has been polite toward Grant, which is much more than Grant ever did for anyone else, but what Hannity said was "If you like Grant, you'll love me." Meaning "I'm better than Grant", which he was and is.
Grant is a dinosaur and theres nothing more useless in this day and age than an obnoxious, rude, arrogant, dinosaur.

I like Sean he is needed to champion the caused and does an excellant job, but he is no Bob Grant.
If you are honest you will acknowledge the gifts that Bob Grant brought to the table. I really enjoyed BG history lessons and other interesting events or inventions that are going on behind the scene!
No one can match Rush insight and vision! Rush is the master of words, and can zero in the core of an issue!
Sean is at times painfully redundant!
There are days at a time I have to turn down the volume or off.
One can over preach to the choir. Many times I yell help I can't hear it anymore!
Sean interviews too many liberal idols to be fair, I say who cares we are swimming in them!
Every opportunity should be used to promote the strenghts of good not to lend a voice to these traders.
I am not saying there should not be a report on them. I am saying let those traders get their own outlet if the public will listen?

I not only remember the quote, I have the T-shirt! A guy named T-Shirt Harry made up a bunch of shirts with that saying and a very wicked caricature of Cuomo. It was a big hit. I bought one for me and one for my dad.
That saying drove Cuomo nuts, and Bob knew it. Bob would do a public appearance, and he'd get the entire crowd on tape shouting the salute to Mario. He would then play the tape at least once during the show. Sometimes just for chuckles this other WABC radio host named Jay Diamond would show up and do his wickedly spot-on impression of Cuomo, and Bob would "interview" him. I would end up rolling on the floor laughing my butt off. And then there was the guy who actually wrote a song based on the salute to Mario. He would call up and play the piano and sing the song on the air. I think his name was Marty. I wonder what happened to him. Ah, memories.
I'll never forget the day WABC fired him. That was the day that I met him. He was doing a book signing at a Waldenbooks just up the street from my job, so I went out on my lunch hour, bought the book, and got his autograph. He was charming and gracious to everyone. I was floating on air on my way back to the office. Then when I got home around 6:30pm, my father said to me, "Hold onto that book, because it's going to be a collector's item. WABC fired him." I couldn't believe it!

Took me a while, but I finally found it! Here it is:
"Mario! A sienta me. Tu sci propio uno sfachime!"
