WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, the highest-ranking Latin American woman in the Bush administration, plans to leave her post at the end of June, the Treasury Department announced Thursday.

Marin, who became the 41st treasurer in the summer of 2001, is being floated as a possible Republican contender for a Senate seat from California in 2004.

Don't forget Rep. John Linder (GA-7) and Sen. John Sununu are stinking RINOS as well. Conservatives ought to let Marxists like Maxine Walters and John Conyers run the "show" in Washington.

I have NO idea how to read that post.

Are you referring to "moderate" Johnny Isakson, who is NOT the White House candidate in Georgia? (WH not getting involved in GA -- at least not yet.) Or to Linder, who is conservative but not running for senate? And the Sununu thing has to be a joke, 'cause he's a conservative star. So maybe that was sarcastic. And then the Waters/Conyers comment just went way over my head. So I guess I'm lost.

That loathsome token appointee seems to spend a lot of time in the dump south of the border working to speed up Mexico's strip-mining of the U.S.

Yeah, let's send those damn 'spics back to Mexico!!! And dismantle Little Italy while we're at it! /sarcasm

Why don't we hear what a real American has to say:

Later, as she dined on quesadillas at El Gallo Gira, a sprawling Mexican cafeteria and bakery on Pacific Boulevard, the mayor said that "human nature" alone will motivate Huntington Park's immigrants to gradually loosen their ties to Mexico. They will follow the path of the German, Italian and eastern European immigrants who had crossed the Atlantic early this century, she added.

"People will learn to become good Americans, and they will move on," Ms. Marin said above a booming mariachi singer. "Huntington Park is just a springboard."

End illegal immigration, sure, but there's no need to hate on people coming to America to work, raise a family, and live the American dream!

This woman even causes the Democommies running bankrupting California to jump for joy. >>>>>>>

I see our *amigo* Rosario is in the news again !!

Last time we talked she was @ the White House looking for
federal acceptance of the PHONY matricular card.

Hopefully the Prez told her where she should keep *her card*, & sent her back to LA LA Land.....

She's just another legal, aiding & abetting the MILLIONS
of ILLEGALS...

I was making reference to last year when some posters on FR complained about RINOS taking over. Some posters regarded GOP candidates - Bob Smith, Bob Barr, Bob Peeler, and Jim Snyder – as the true champions of conservative principles. While accusing their primary opponents – John Sununu, John Linder, Mark Sanford, and Liddy Dole - as being Marxist infiltrators who will do the bidding of Maxine Walters and John Conyers. It was so laughable. Freepers were accusing Pubbies of being RINOS without offering any proof.

Gee, you seemed to have over-looked what THESE Americans & MEX. Americans had to say about Huntington Park, CA
while Ms. Marin was the mayor.......

from the same article.......

"I don't see anything positive," said Louise Zeltner, 79, who settled in
Huntington Park with her husband 34 years ago. They are the last white
couple on their block. A frail woman, Ms. Zeltner said she rarely ventures
outside because she is terrified of gangs.

"I have no friends anymore," she added, as she sagged into her living room
recliner. "I have no one to talk to. Everybody's Spanish."

Ms. Zeltner's next-door neighbors, Angel and Dolores Medina, are
Mexican-American old-timers who harbor resentments of their own. They say
Huntington Park was a nicer town when they emigrated here from Guadalajara,
Mexico, in the 1950s. They blame the decline on the current wave of
undocumented immigrants.

"I don't go out at night anymore," said Mr. Medina, 74, a retired
meatpacker. "It's too dangerous. My wife and I got mugged."

"Rosario Marin, the next Senator from California. Born in Mexico , she's a shoe-in."

Not a "barefoot in?"

I didn't quote them but I referenced that point to the xenophobe above.

The 79-year-old woman was very typical; I didn't want to poke fun, but she would not feel safe around unruly kindergardeners or Mel Martinez either. That's no different from a Pole living in Little Italy; of course they'll feel out of place!

Hey, this couple wasn't MUGGED by 5 yr. olds, they were
mugged by a Hispanic Street Gang, I assume, since HP, CA is about 95% Hispanic.

That's no different from a Pole living in Little Italy; of course they'll feel out of place!>>>>>>>

Both couples had lived in HP for 30/40 years, now they're retired. If they "feel out of place" you think THEY SHOULD MOVE ??, or just remain *inside* because they're too scared
to go outside.??

Huntington Park, CA,(& their stats.) is a very good example
of how Un-controlled immigration and RAMPENT ILLEGAL imm.
is turning parts of America into a cesspool like Mexico.

from the same article....

30,000 living in each sq. mile of the city......

population more than 25% ILLEGAL.....

Senior Class had 1600 students and WOW!!! it looks like 600
of them actually got a DIPLOMA....LESS than 40%

(no wonder TAXPAYERS are moving from CA)

Just wondering... what specifically is your evidence for the RINO charge against Marin? Not sure if you're from California or not, but if she can defeat Barbara Boxer and at least halfway support me as a Republican constituent, I'll back her.

of course they'll feel out of place!

Why should any American have to feel out of place in her home of many years because of illegal aliens? Shouldn't it be the illegal aliens feeling out of place? Shouldn't illegal aliens be deported?

Los Angeles has approximately 2 million illegal aliens residing here, according to estimates, probably more. Legal residents and taxpayers here are forced to pay the bills for their keep. Recently one L.A. supervisor tried to pass a bill to make illegal aliens pay for part of their medical care. The bill was shot down by the pro-illegal alien lobby, including most of the supervisors. This is unfair to taxpayers. It isn't a racial thing, it's a financial thing. Why should taxpayers be responsible for border hoppers? The costs are enormous, and California is bankrupt.

I don't hate anyone because of their skin color....and your
Ms. Marin is pushing for the US government to accept the
Matricula Card issued by the CORRUPT mexican gov't. (gee, is that racist?) Or did I miss her speech about accepting
just any phony I.D.'s from ALL countries??

She has done more for American than you have>>>>>>>>

Yeah, Ms. Marin helped turn HP, CA into a true "American
City", where even the mex. Americans are complaining.

Duhhh...Marin is white. Her main claim to fame is...she's from Mexico. And she doesn't believe that the United States should have laws, at least not the ones she disagrees with, so that might be just a teensy source of friction.

She aids and abets illegal immigration, money laundering, and promotes the arrogation of power by a foreign government in the United States by demanding the acceptance of government identification issued by a foreign government, specifically to aid and abet a Federal crime in the United States. So...what country, what people, what history do you think she's loyal to?

And why do you have a hard time understanding why the rest of us don't particularly care for a person from another country advocating the abolition of ours?

From the Mercury News

U.S. Treasurer's resignation may mean competitor for Boxer

Mercury News Washington Bureau
U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin.
U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin.

U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin, a Southern Californian whose name adorns America's currency, announced her resignation today amid widespread speculation that her name will appear next on California's 2004 election ballot.

Marin, whose family came from Mexico when she was a frightened 14-year-old, is the first immigrant to have her signature imprinted on America's currency. Now 44, Marin may seek to make more history as California's first Latino senator.

As the highest-ranking Latina in the Bush administration, some Republicans have been touting Marin as a potential challenger next year to Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. Marin has been publicly noncommittal and declined an interview request Thursday. She said in her resignation letter only that she and her family decided to return to California.

It's been a remarkable rise for Marin, who attended college at night while she worked days at City National Bank in Beverly Hills. As a young assistant receptionist, she said in an interview last week that she learned a valuable lesson she took with her to Washington.

``I learned from there that everything that leaves my desk has my signature and needs to be excellent,'' Marin recalled in an interview last week. ``Now the dollars have my signature.''

"Marin's family moved from Mexico to California (that's a nice PC way of putting it), where she lived until Bush tapped her for the Treasury job.

Only native born Americans should hold any post in government for the obvious reasons which she has amply demonstrated.
