High school teacher Barry Bradford was 8 years old when Medgar Evers was assassinated in Jackson.
"My dad sat down the three of us," recalled Bradford, who was living in suburban Chicago. "He was shaken by it. He told us Medgar was trying to do the right thing for the right reasons and that whoever killed him had great evil in his heart, which we later found out was true."

It would be nice if they erected a statue with the Evers' boys sitting on the courthouse steps watching the foul-mouthed racist Theodore Bilbo thundering at them that "those two n***er boys will be running this state someday !" as an admonition to the crowd of mostly White onlookers. A sort of "daydreaming of the future" kind of motif.

Students in their project found the Evers case not only helped to inspire other cases, it also helped to ensure the prosecution of Kennedy relative Michael Skakel, convicted last summer of beating Martha Moxley to death with a golf club in 1975 as she left his Greenwich, Conn., home. How so? Please, I'm lost.... unable to connect the dots from the Evers to Skakel.

Evers' killer (can't remember his name, James Woods played him in the film) was successfully prosecuted many, many years after the crime --much like Skakel.

Oh yes. Thank you. I can't recall the old yahoo's name either. His name doesn't matter --- murderers don't deserve fame.

The author or the speaker meant that life is sacred, whether a black civil rights worker in Mississippi or a suburban teenager in Greenwich, CT. But there did see to ba a little disconnect here, considering that the Everses were once so close to the Kennedys. Perhaps when Charles Evers switched parties, he forfeited his ties to the Kennedys; but Schwartzenegger still has his family ties to the Democrat clan.
