? I thought what I posted in the message you replied to. I believed in the truth of the Welt-article.
To: Michael81Dus

? I thought what I posted in the message you replied to.In the meantime, I have read the post #1, yes.
I meant, what did you think about finding out how the Welt and Guardian twisted the truth? I didn't see that in the msg I responded to.

Are you going to start a discussion wether the weapons were old or? Thanks for your links, but none of them says that the weapons could compete with the NATO-standard of half-automatic guns.
To: Citizen of the Savage Nation
I´m wondering about Die Welt, but then again, they probably have taken it into the paper uncontrolled. A black sheep of the journalists. And the Guardian has taken the article from Die Welt uncontrolled, too.
To: Michael81Dus
Here's the kicker...Wolfowitz said what he said to cause exactly what happened to happen. That was very very smart, if you look at the words he chose, he could have said a number of things that conveyed the same message but he chose just this right combo of words because he knew it would be taken out of context and then it would cause great embarrassment to those that did.
Genius.

Actually, that´s a bit too far from reality. Sounds like conspiracy theory - combined powers against the media!
Where´s your crystal ball? ;-))
To: Stultis
Front page splash with the lies, then a tiny correction buried in the paper. They got the effect they wanted. Typical liberal rag.

Babelfish translation:
QUOTATION BEGINNING on the question, why a country possessing atomic weapons was differently treated such as North Korea than the Iraq, where hardly massenvernichtungswaffen had been found, answered the deputy Secretary of Defense again very openly: \"Betrachten we it once completely simply. The most important difference between North Korea and the Iraq is that that we had economically simply no choice in the Iraq. The country swims on a sea of oil. \ "
We always have these guy's for accurate translation.

Today, a day later, Der Spiegel still treats the story as the truth. They are asking the CDU, how it feels to be betrayed by the U.S. after Wolfowitz's open declaration that the war was only for oil? We better call the UN and ask them to get their investigators in there to hunt for Goebbels. Throw enough feces against the wall and something will stick.
To: americanbychoice1
I noticed that too.
Spiegel also claims that when Friedbert Pflüger, foreign policy expert of the (allegedly) conservative CDU tried to organize a show of support in his party for Wolfowitz, the other CDU leaders laughed him off the podium.
Don't know if there is any truth to that (anything in Der Spiegel must be presumed a prima facie lie, absent other evidence) but it sounds plausible.
German "conservatives"...
