People have said some useful things on this thread, and given some good links. A good website to learn more about this topic (with links with info about overcoming SSAD) is this one: http://www.abidingtruth.com/ The man who put it all together is Scott Lively, very informed, motivated person.

Society today is so fractured, with self-gratification and instant "me-me-me" advertised everywhere, meaningless amoral nihilism promoted everywhere - no wonder pathologies of all kind are rampant; confusion about sexuality being prominent.
Spiritual understanding - getting oneself right with God - (and I'm not promoting one method here) is probably the best way for most people to straighten themselves out, and not just for sexual problems. I can personally testify! I started out life with many many problems (not the SSAD one but PLENTY more!) and spiritual understanding has straightened out my mind and heart more than any other method, by miles and miles. Prayer is also a potent energy.

If he is even considering entering into the gay life some facts he should contemplate. ESPECIALLY IF HE HAS CHILDREN that he should be a present, loving FATHER for.

The gay life is a death sentence besides being mentally/phsyically harmful & abusive. Gay activists claim therapy for sexual orientation is the above but any attempt to save someone from that destructive life is loving.

He is not a freak and other such nonsense. He is still heterosexual (by nature) but has a sexual disorder that causes him to be attracted to the same sex (by nurture). It is only a symptom of much deeper more complex problems and NO DIFFERENT than many other hetero / sexual disorders.

If he has already had an extra-marital affair than she needs to think about how much she meant "for better or for worse". If he seeks forgiveness and she isn't willing to forgive, she needs to consider if she really wants that horrible life for him and how much she really loves him. Of course, it is her biblical right to a divorce.

Oh and someone attracted to the same sex is, can and should still be a follower of Christ. They should read the Word together (thus transforming their minds from glory to glory) and pray together.

I find it hard to believe that an adolescent who is just discovering his sexuality would choose to be attracted to his/her same gender. Even in today's liberal society, they are going to be ostracized by their classmates at a time when they most want to be like everyone else.

Considering that hormones are given to promote the desired gender of sex-change individuals, it stands to reason that some individuals are simply born with fewer of the hormones that make them sexually attracted to the opposite gender. (My question has always been -- why not just give them the hormones that would encourage an attraction to the opposite gender?)

Just because they can't find a gay gene doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Is there some gene in my body that determines why I prefer chocolate to pepperment?

I think homosexuality is often a combination of nurture and nature. And for those who use the Bible to condemn them, it needs to be said that adultery is an equal sin in the sight of the Lord.(Though I doubt we will ever see a parade of "proud" adulterers, or a demand for "adulterers month")

While I don't like the idea of homosexuals being ostracized by society, neither do I think they should have special rights and their efforts at recruitment should be shut down.
