UPDATE VI: Rick at The Real Ugly American has an update with an explanation of the reason the Bush administration kept this quiet:

General Tom Mcinerney is reporting on Fox Hannity and Colmes right now that that the administration has been keeping this low profile to avoid exposing 3 of the 5 members of the UN Security council; Russia, China, and France. McInerney says these weapons will be traced to these countries, and asserts it is well known that Russia helped Saddam move most of his WMD stockpiles out of Iraq before the war.

We wanted to keep France, Russia, and China from embarrassment? Well, maybe...

UPDATE VII: At 8:46 PM, the first wire report from the mainstream media comes from Fox four hours later... Comments (50) |

"Anyone remember the news about the hundreds of hours of audio tape recorded in Saddam's office and captured by us? Here is a translated comment spoken by Saddam's son-in-law, Hussein Kamel, talking about how Iraq fooled the U.N. inspectors:

"We did not reveal all that we have," he says. "Not the type of weapons, not the volume of the materials we imported, not the volume of the production we told them about, not the volume of use. None of this was correct."

I wrote about it in February, but nothing I've ever shown a liberal has ever been sufficient to be that elusive "smoking gun" they demand.

The problem is that you don' t find a smoking gun until after it's been fired.
