"You can watch Fox News, you can read the Washington Times, the Weekly Standard, the New York Post, Matt Drudge, Rush Limbaugh; it's a whole world view, and it's an energizing world view," he said. The media dominance has dramatically impacted the political culture as well, according to Alterman.
Those few examples hardly constitute 'media dominance.'
Like true tyrants, liberals just cannot tolerate any dissent.

Jackson told his audience that they must "not stand silent and sit by and watch Fox TV
It's like a cult ordering brainwashed members never to read or listen to material from sources outside its own "leadership". They are just petrified at what Fox can show people :-)

.....They are not just masturbating in front of their computer screen, they are e-mailing their congressman, they are e-mailing letters to the editor, they are organizing gatherings, they are spreading rumors, getting stuff on Rush and Drudge that night," Alterman explained.......
Or, we're mad as hell and we are not taking the lefties crap any more...

Is Elvis going to pilot the flying saucer to pick up the food again? I hope not - it took way too long last time and those little vienna sausages were cold.

Alterman credited conservative philanthropist Richard Mellon Scaife for successfully pioneering the conservatives' takeover of the media in America. I heard that Richard Mellon Scaife made a sweetheart deal with Jim Robinson, but it's all behind the scenes dontcha know.

So funny to see the scared little liberals!
Oh, poor little liberals, they only control 95% of the mainstream media - not 100% like they used to.
Funny, how they can be so ignorant of any other views outside of that of their close circle of "friends".
Oh how they whine when they can't have it all!!

Alterman also credited organized and well-financed conservative organizations that mobilize the media when they feel their message is not being heard. The market for information in this country is demand driven, one could describe left-leaning media as "well financed and organized", much more so on both counts than those few which lean right.
There has indeed been a monumental shift, but it has been precipitated on the demand side, individual decisions on the part of the consumers of information, conscious and informed decisions to reject one view and embrace another. These people can finance and organize all they want, but they'll in the end have to provide the truth, and that's the problem the left is faced with, the truth is anathema to their cause.

Bork, in his book, "Slouching Towards Gomorrah", called folks like Alterman, who were the offspring of European immigrants new to the US and sympathizers of Communism, "Red Diaper Babies", yet Alterman is too young for that, and joins the likes of Al Franken as Political Pornographers, or Disruptors.

Alterman is a buffoon, but he actually makes one salient point.
A lot of these people are probably no longer with us now because of the passage of time, I think the great shifts probably happened in '72 with Nixon and '80 with Reagan (Carter in '76 was an aberration, although he governed a lot more liberally than he campaigned). But I submit that a lot of old-line Democrats who we'd probably label as liberal ... some New Deal/FDR types from the WWII era, the JFK/Humphrey crowd, old-style union guys, maybe even some LBJ types although he did start the Great Society ... actually did move rightward over the years.
That helped us start winning elections ... Reagan never would've gotten his landslides with only the votes of true-believer conservatives ... and helped start and pass down a heritage that has kept the conservative movement alive and vibrant today.
I think this shift happened because (a.) a lot of the folks I mentioned truly loved this country, and got turned off by the crowd that appeared in the '60s who hate this country; (b.) a lot of the folks I mentioned finally woke up and saw how much money and freedom big-daddy liberalism was costing them; and (c.) a lot of the folks I mentioned were moral and religious people who were turned off by the kind of flotsam and jetsam that now makes up the core constituencies of the Democratic Party, and turned rightward because of social issues.
In his book ... which I barely finished because of alternating hysterical laughter and nausea ... Alterman's basic point is that Democrat doesn't equal liberal; i.e., journalists may be mostly Dems but that doesn't make them liberals, which is laughable.
Looking at and listening to this guy, it's obvious that he's a radical down to the very core of his bone marrow, whose ideal U.S. would be something on the order of Castro's Cuba. And his whole spiel on this basically reflects the far left's frustration and anger from knowing that so many people have defected from the Democrat party over the years, leaving the flotsam and jetsam in control, that the left-wing wackos have no chance of achieving their "ideal" U.S. through peaceful means or the ballot box.

Herr Drobny conveniently forgot about NPR (National Public Radio), the 24-hour left-wing extremist radio channel. No, that's 'mainstream' in their eyes, along with CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, NYT, LAT, Washington Post...

Yep, the FreeRepublic ... "It's a machine, and it works,"
What liberals can't have is a single popular media outlet that questions their view of reality and offers an alternative view. If just one station does this, the liberal spin machine is toast. This is simply and extension of why dictators always kill the opposion. They cannot tolerate any oppossing views, tyranny cannot rule in the sunshine.
That is why the wacko left is squealing is so loud. They must silence all opposing voices, which now can't be done.

Oh, Scaife said the checks will be mailed out today. He had a payroll glitch on Friday. So we all should see something in the mail by the end of the week. Thanks for the update, because if I don't get my check soon, I am quitting my job as a "right-wing conspiritor". I don't care about the direction of my country for nothing. That would be heavens to Betsy, Patriotic!

Well, I'm sure we will all agree that the Ba ba Walters interview with the Hitlery last evening was the VRWC at work!/sarcasm
Their problem is not that they don't have a message and can't get it across. Their problem is that not many people are buying their message.
